Has anyone here removed the rear badges on their car?
I know they'll leave little locating holes, but do they just pull off or do they have speed nuts on the back of them?
Cheers!

Good question. I'd be curious as well.

The Miata badge is glued on, the Mazda badge is held on by two studs.

I got some high test fishing line to get the Miata badge off my NA. I don't know about the Mazda one, I just know it leaves holes

I know on my '02, the Miata badge to the lower left of the license plate isn't just glued on. It has two pins with retaining (grip) washers behind them. The way I got to them was to take the driver side tail light out and I could access them easily. Otherwise forcing the badge off could lead to scratches. The '01 is the same way.

I used fishing line and heat to get mine off..
And 3M tape to put it back on.

Thanks for that. I tried before getting that badge off but it wouldn't move, now I know why.
Will remove the lamp today and see how it goes! Thanks.

My rearbadges came right of, EUDM, one just left some holes, nothing to hold it back.

You might be able to see the outline of where the badge was unless you rebadge it. Something to think about.

That's just junk that can be cleaned off. The real problem is paint fade which can be really obvious for some people doing a debadge.

That's what I meant. It drove me insane after I debadged my old NC. I'm never gonna debadge any of my cars again.

Debadged my NB this weekend..
My UK spec car had holes for both badges, read a good tip on removing the rear lamps to get the speed nuts off of studs which worked well.
No paint fade, but the 'Grace Green/Racing Green' is quite a dark colour anyway.

A friend of mine de-badged his mercedes to find out it had been resprayed. they just taped off the badges.
Meaning he had a paint edge when they were removed.

the president of my old firm de-badged his Mercedes and replace the badges with a less expensive model badges. He did it for when the chairman of the board came into town he would not know what model his car was.
