I assume this is based on the good old php-board that we see on 8 of 10 boards today.
Reason I'm not 100% sure is the all the effort and good work that are put into it to make it a better place to be for us users.

Recently a board I'm member of changed to Discourse (https://meta.discourse.org/). It was a blast.
So if you have not had a look on it I recommend to do, it's good.

Just meant as a tip. :)

Merry x-mas.

Do you have an example of Discourse set up as a car-forum with classifieds (like Panjo)?

Thank you for the kind words Stian. What makes the forum so good is the members and staff. The staff are all active in the Miata community as well as active on here. The members are also very active on here and there are lot of the old school guys on here as well as new owners. Everyone treats each other with respect which is how it should be.

As a designer you should not worry about technicalities. ;)

This forum is based on vBulletin software, which is sort of like phpBB, but with a lot more bells and whistles.

Discourse looks like a modern approach to the same old forum concept using modern methods and styling. It really does look nice. But, asking an established forum to switch to a new platform that's only been around for a year or two is unrealistic.

I hate to be a stick-in-the-mud, but what we have works. Switching to Discourse might make it look different, but it's not going to change much. As someone hinted at above, it's the people that make a forum community what it is.

That said... if Randy is up for it, Discourse is worth a look. It might be just the thing to bring "90's era" forums into the 21st century. It does have some interesting features.

This is a good read. (https://www.ostraining.com/blog/general/discourse/)
