Rather fitting that this order from Nakamae I placed a few months ago arrived at my home today.

The story begins towards the start of the year when I started looking at bucket seats for my Pitcrew build. I asked my friend/supplier in Japan if Nakamae would still do their Type R seat. In my opinion the Nakamae Type R seat is the ultimate classic bucket seat for a roadster. It combines Japanese quality build with classic styling and having been designed by Nakamae bolt straight to MX5 runners and sit you just right in a MX5 (neither too low or too high like some aftermarket seats).

I had looked on the Nakamae website and noticed they were discontinued and the sadly response back was Nakamae had stopped making the seats.

Instead I went in another direction seats wise but continued to look on Yahoo for suitable Nakamae seats but found none in the S/R/LE Limited red I needed for my S Limited Pitcrew roadster. I have been in the MX5 game too long but was always admired Phatmiata's build threads from back in the day on Miata.net with these seats so great to own a similar set now.

Over the year I continued to get parts in from my friend/supplier in Japan and shared back the build thread on the Pitcrew roadster which Nakamae continued to supply parts for.

Moving the story to completion a few months ago I again asked if Nakamae would do me a classic bucket seat and this time to my delight and surprise was told Nakamae would do a special order and make me a set of Nakamae Type R seats in the correct red for a S/R/LE Limited. A order was quickly placed and I patiently waited for them to be made.

They left Japan a few weeks ago but 1 turned up quickly while the other go delayed in UK customs but today both arrived home together.

In the box.

And they will be going in the Pitcrew so the red leather Kelvar recaros will be going up for sale in the new year unless they go in the R Limited which is basically a MK1 RS Limited and I create a R Limited +

A hefty wedge of cash in the direction of Madaboutmx5s and I can help make it happen for you!

Thanks Randy. Back in the day you were probably one of those to blame for my JDM collection beginning. Threads on miata.net, the old clubroadster, etc are all to blame. It feels like a right of passage with Nakamae as like mentioned got told out of production earlier in the year but I think having bought quite a few other Nakamae parts they kindly agreed to a special request from my supplier which I didn't expect.

Tan kelvar recaros ive not seen before. I probably be selling the red leather recaros unless they go in my spare R Limited but will be collection only so rules out most people on here as don't want to risk them getting damaged and likewise would cost a fair bit to ship due to size.

It'd be probably be cost prohibitive as well due the rare status of them... I plan on *someday* buying a recaro pole position (or similar seat with low side bolsters) to be re-upholstered in tan leather and use that on the drivers side with the lotus seat I have now moving to the passenger side..

Madaboutmx5 that is outstanding. I really love it when people know what they want and stay focused on it to closure even when told it can't be done. So many people just go through the motions on this sort of thing and so few have the tenacity to make it happen. Nice job!!

Oh yeah, seats are cool too. Keep me in mind if you sell them off in 5 to 10 years time, I'll be good for it.

Thanks folks. Kind of a right of passage with Nakaame as I bought other Nakmae parts and showed the development of my car showing I was a genuine enthsuiast wanting to enjoy Nakaame products. As the seats had been discontinued a big thanks for Nakamae and my friend/supplier in Japan for organise it all.

The seats are designed for slimmer frames although I am quite tall. I've a 32' waist and am 6ft 2' and fit comfortably in them.
