I use just about any regular or synthetic oil for my non-turbo Miata, whatever I have on my oil shelf. Synthetic for my commuter since I rack-up mileage on it like crazy and have no time to change the oil. And Motul 5100 ester/ synthetic oil on my Sportbike.

I've become a fan of amsoil products, though previously I used royal purple. Always full synthetic

I have had good luck with Rotella T5 SynBlend.
had several BPs with stuck rings that T5 seemed to cure.
Priced right too at $16 a gallon.

Amsoil in the track car. Castrol 5w30 or 0w30 and M1 0w30 for the other vehicles. Trying Rotella 5W40 in the "new" Miata.

Eneos. My co-worker got me to check this oil out. And I have used it on my wife's CRV and at 4k it seems to be much lighter in color than the Mobil 1 full syn on my Mazda 5 with 3.5k. Both car's oil change were done at the same time as the 2014 CRV has an on-board oil interval schedule so I just do them at the same time. I am still skeptical on this oil but I did load it on my 94 Miata so we shall see.

But honestly how can one tell without some lab test? And I am not crazy to send an oil sample to a lab to prove how good this oil is lol.

One thing nice about this oil is that I just order them from Amazon and they get delivered at my door.

Exactly. Some of you guys want to start with a pure Esther (Royal Purple?) but a few want to run full synthetic which starts as dino grease. It's a Miata motor for crying out loud. Just keep it clean and you'll be fine.

Castrol, because Gran Turismo.
I only drive a couple of thousand K's a year so it hardly discolours before I change it.

I used to use Mobil 1 also, until I recently switched to Pennzoil Ultra synthetic. I've been really impressed with the Pennzoil. My Miata currently has 218k on it, I bought it with 173k and it's always had pronounced lifter tick by the time I am due for an oil change. Using the Pennzoil I'll only ocasionally get hot restart lifter tick, and it's quiet up to the service interval. I was impressed by the difference.

Whichever synthetic oil is on sale. Synthetic because I'm lazier as I get older, so the change interval has been extended from the norm of every 3 months to every 4 months-ish.

I run 5w40 in the Miata (Rotella T6) and e30, found it helpful for cleaning some of the engine in the e30. In the summer, I run 20w50 in the e30, which is track season. It's an old engine, likes it a lot.

The Shell synthetic for diesel cars. Have been using it since 2010. I also used it on my 2002 Tacoma truck.

No sarcasm. I mean that if folks really want a pure synthetic oil, better to start with a real one like Royal Purple. Mobile 1 does not start life as a pure ester.

I use Royal Purple because its cheap and keeps my HLA's happy (aka silent).

Speaking of HLAs
On my last service I changed the timing belt and cam seals amongst other things and decided to clean out the HLAs.
My lifters didn't tick, but I'd heard it becomes a problem as the motor gets older.
I read somewhere (Mnet maybe) that cleaning them out stops the dreaded tick.
When I pulled them apart they had a horrible black sludge inside them.
Cleaned them with solvent degreaser, brake cleaner, then assembled them with fresh oil.
They ticked like crazy for ten minutes or so but then came right.
Here's a pic of the top off the motor as it was going back together, showing the gold colour, which I think is okay for 135,000kms (84,000 miles).

I used Rotella T6 5w 40 to cure my ticking problems on my 1.6. I am currently using the same oil for my 1.8 turbo.

My car is quiet with fresh oil. After a few thousand miles it starts ticking. So, my car tells me when she needs her oil changed :)

Just changed the oil on mine using Rotella T6. I've tried the Amsoil before but its expensive.
