I spoke to a body shop today about getting my miata painted and having flares installed to allow for wider and lower profile tire. I am not looking to go slammed or stanced I love the way a miata looks with flares and want the tires to sit right under them. I am looking into a 15x8 rim but am confused about offset i dont know what offset i would need all i do know is i do not want to use spacers. The body shop is going to want to have atleast one mounted tire so he knows how much of the body of the car needs to be removed for flare. Here are the flares i am looking at. http://ssworxs.bigcartel.com/product/miata-na-and-nb-fender-flares-4-piece. I do not want fiberglass or frp i feel more safer with metal. So if anyone can help me with wheel and tire selection and maybe a definition as to why your suggesting that size would help me alot.

Wow the welding on that sample picture is horrendous.. anyhow you can go 225/45/15 or 205/50/15. Judging my the sample car picture you can run a similar 15x8 with -15 to -25 depending on the tire you run

Yea i did not like the same pic weld but its all i could find. This all started after i found rust above one of my tires so i am either going to get that area fixed and pay for a nice paint job. Or add flares and add to a nice paintjob or lastly. Srip the miata and part it out and buy something else.

here is a better install, maybe print out a copy and give it to your body shop guy?

From the site you linked to:
"Sample pictures from a customer's install on his daily driven car.
he has 15x8 zero offset wheels with a 1" spacer added and still can clear more."

So, 15x8 et0 + a 1" spacer (25.4mm) = 15x8 et-25. I would imagine a 15x8 et-10 to -25 is is good. Or 15x9et0 to -12 or 15x10et extrapolated. Just be aware of the backspacing to be safe.

Are you set on getting those particular flares? With 15x8 wheels, you should be able to fit -15 offset wheels. With 225s tires, that might be the lowest you can go (depending on the flares you get).

What wheels do you want to run? There is limited choices in 15x8 -10 to -25 offset. Maybe if you tell us your 'dream wheels', we could comment on fitment. I like the big TE37s but they're expensive. Have you considered the Rota RKR in 15x9 0 offset. It'll probably steer better with a bigger rim with less neg offset. Plenty of room for big boots with those flares.
