I have a set of RS Refine rings and I have recently purchased Revlimiter's carbonite glass and I was wondering what you guys are using to bond the glass to the rings.

I was also wondering what to use to bond the rings to a cluster face panel. Thanks.

As I recall, RS Refine included a tube of model glue with their rings. You apply it to the ring with a toothpick, then drop the lens on top and add a small weight (just a few oz) to the center while the glue is curing.

Thanks for the response Adam, I guess I should check the whole kit I bought from another user to see if there is some glue with it. Do you think I could use the same glue to bond the rings to a panel?

My favorite adhesive for that kind of thing is clear silicone. It should bond the rings and panel in a strong, yet non-permanent way. Get a good thin coating on the edge of the ring, but don't go crazy. Stick the ring on and wait a few hours. It should be quite strong.

Thank you for your guidance Adam =). I'll go find some clear silicone... may I ask what brand you actually use?

The stuff that comes with the RS rings is "Tamiya Craft Bond"

Mine came with Tamiya glue as well. But I sold my kit to a Hammerhead. But I don't know what I did with the glue.

For my AWD rings and glass I used Chemlink Clear polyether sealant. It's super strong, very clear, adheres to most all substrates; metal, glass, plastic etc. and it's solvent free so no worries about it melting the plastic or etching the glass. We use it in my industry (construction) so I'm very familiar with it.

Best part is that it cleans up with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) so if you make a mess it cleans up super easy with no harsh chemicals

You can buy it from http://www.ConspecMaterials.net

Cool thanks guys, I actually found that Tamiya glue the rings came with and ended up using that. I kind of messed up on one ring so i quickly brought the glass to the sink and rinsed it off... came off thankfully! Now just gatta wait for the panel to arrive. Did you also use the Chemlink Clear polyether sealant to glue the rings to the panel as well? Or would that Tamiya glue work with that also?

Chemlink Clear bonds to anything. So yes I used it to bond the rings to the panel.

You should be able to find flowable silicone sealant for glass at Advance Auto or Autozone.

When I click on the link you posted it doesn't take me to their site, it brings me to some joomla site. I've searched for other ways to purchase this stuff but I can only seem to find it in super large tubes for for those caulking guns.
