Sharka's Gauge Cups (http://revlimiter.net/store/gauge-cups.php)

Urethane gauge pods designed to fit the NA6 (non airbag) Miata dashboard.
Originally from Project M, re-produced by permission.
Fits left or right hand drive cars.
Mounting hardware and fitting template included.
Fits all 52mm aftermarket gauges.

Hit my store (http://revlimiter.net/store/gauge-cups.php) for price and ordering info! I've got prices for single, double, and triple gauge cups.

Gauge Cups are hand cast in black urethane. All mounting hardware is included. Fits all 52mm aftermarket gauges. The mounting clip is as close to universal as I was able to design.

Non-painted cups are shown above. They can be easily painted to match the factory plastic or left bare (not recommended). They're angled perfectly toward the driver.

Though they're set over to the passenger side, the gauges require much less eye movement than ones mounted by the radio. They're also symmetrical, so they'll work on left hand drive or right hand drive.

Mine are based on the fiberglass cups produced by Russell of Project M (http://www.projectem.co.uk/). I increased the wall thickness and opened up the big hole to fit every 52mm gauge I could find (52mm means different things to different companies). I also modified them slightly to be as symmetrical as possible and work on RHD and LHD equally.

I've had my set of three installed in Sharka for the past 2 months. That time has included a lot of baking in the paint booth and out in the hot New Mexico sun. No damage.

I'm excited to have these in my store!!! I hope folks like them.

Thanks guys!!! Making the molds for this one was fun. Each one used like 3 lbs of silicone.

NA6 owners shouldn't have all the fun.

On behalf of NA8 owners everywhere, we need something special and unique, too!

I am from Australia and my NA8 dash is identical to NA6. Still cant work out why it changed for US market. Must have been the requirements for Airbag in US because my NA8 doesnt have airbag. Oh well, crashpad gauge pods for me then! :slayer:

Thanks Adam for making these, I ordered 3, cant wait! :frantic:

yes it was for airbags, Japan and other countries did not get passenger side airbags until 97 98, but in the USA we got passX airbags in 94

Yeah. Airbags in the dash. I used to think that was pretty much a USA-only thing, but a few customers have opened my eyes. The airbag dash was present in MOST European countries. If you ordered a new MX-5 in 94-97, you got an airbag dash in Europe. But there's also a lot of JDM Eunos imports, so chances of a car having a flat dash are pretty even.

There's a lot more flat, non-airbag dashboards in the world than there are NA8 airbag dashes. I know this from hazard switch sales. The NA6 model outsells the NA8 10 to 1. I was as surprised as anyone about this. I've never personally owned an NA6.

So, modifying the gauge cups to be as symmetrical as possible and work on both LHD and RHD Miata seemed the logical thing to do. It leaves airbag dashboard cars out in the cold, but it works for the great majority of NA Miatas in existence. That means sales for me. Sales mean more funds for new products.

But don't worry, NA8 folks. I've got something planned for the future.

Let's not forget to give credit to the original maker of this part! Kg works!

Absolutely! But I honestly don't know how close Russell's cups are/were to the KG cups. I've never had the KG ones in hand. Mine are based on a different mold.

Like a 5 year bump on this thread! I thought I'd bump it instead of making a new one to show that the gauge cups were back in stock after a few months of being sold out.

Gauge Cups are back in stock!!!

I want to have enough engine parameters to monitor to justify these. Wonder if anyone has come up with some other clever uses for them.

Water pressure, voltage, oil temp.

Water pressure will tell you if you have a leak, voltage will tell if your leak is a lost belt and if your charging system/battery are operational, oil temp will tell you if your car is running too hot. All three are pretty vital.
