Mazda's being a bunch of #$^#%'s so Murakami has made a prototype hardtop. Having the potential to be the only hardtop on the market, Murakami has made a good move. :) Deatails: it's carbon, it's a prototype. That is all.

The sticker on the hardtop says "Porco Rosso," which was a Miyazaki anime. Might just be a nickname for the car (crimson pig? flying pig? idk). For anyone wondering about the spoiler, it looks like the rare JDM Mazdaspeed NB spoiler.

I am on the fence. I may be the only one that thinks that the bulge is too high?

But bravo for beating Mazda to the punch.

This was my initial thought. The profile reminds me of the removable hardtops for the 986 or MR-S.

I think it works well with the car. Love the new dimension it gives it. Makes it hard to fight the urge for an ND.

This was my initial thought...

Thought the same, but, I'm sure this is for racing thus the need for extra space for helmets.

At first look those bubbles are too tall but it grows on me. Looks good. Could look better with lower bubbles or no bubbles.

Side profile reminds me of the mohawk drift viper. Will look bad when painted probably, but as said, it's main purpose is for racing I expect.

I think I like it more than I hate it. My only gripe is that it reminds me of the hardtops for the BMW Z3 or a convertable Porsche... which I think looks ugly! But the more I look at it the more it is growing on me.

Shape doesn't work for me. Both from a functional and styling perspective, I think our top will be better balanced. Still probably two months away from releasing images of ours to the public.

I love the way it looks, and the extra headroom is great, could run a taller rollbar, of course that would make it softtop incompatible, so add a bikini top. Perfect!

This new Fiat Rally concept was unveiled with a hardtop, I wonder if it is our first peek at the factory top (obviously without the vent) or if it is a one-off piece for this car?

Exactly what I was thinking tsing, it looks rather bulbous. Pretty ugly from the side in my opinion.

Hoping the original post is not a hard top design offered by Mazda. Not a fan of it. BUT it may look better if it is painted the same body color (in my case Ceramic). Diggin the Fiat version, but maybe that is because it familiar in that it it closely resembles the NA/NB hardtop. I have heard more than once that there is a Mazda removable hardtop (concept?) out there and that it has a look like a fastback.
