Does any one know what the little plastic tab on the ND's rear wheel opening is about?
What's it's purpose? See Pic.

My first uneducated guesses would be a tiny little mud/dirt/water deflector so it doesn't go up that seam right there. Or maybe to move wind turbulence away from the area behind the bumper...

Idk im not very smart.

they used a similar thing on the M2-1028, not sure of what benefit they will have?

My initial thought was the same as Paul's. It probably keeps water/dirt of the rear bumper. Maybe someone from Mazda will weigh in on this.

It is funny but I know that in some cars they are there purely for homologation reasons; in some countries regulations dictate which % of tire is acceptable to be viewed, so they act as "fender extenders". Maybe that's the case with ND...or not.

I'm gonna go with a discrete mud guard. Just enough so that the spray/mud doesn't fly up to the gas cap.

The flap is on both sides...symmetry perhaps.. I like the homologation theory, though.

I really do wonder if water could run up that bumper seam and into the trunk area.

They creat little air vortices that curl around the rear and propel the car faster.
