Anyone knows if they will fit OEM bilstein shocks? I am planning on building my setup using Billies and 2.5" springs, and wanted to make extended top hats, but at this price I cannot ignore them. Any advice on whether I should or not?

There is a thread in the other forum about the Billies being built to a custom DIY coilover sorta FCM. It was essentially started to save money but some guys are complaining that it is costing them more at the end of the day. But if you could find a way to build a set w/o spending a ton then I think it's worth it. Altho' from what I also gathered you can't lower these billies lower than 12.5" unless you get them revalved or rebuild which will push anyone's budget off the cliff. Another route would be to source out some Tein Street Basis and use those........g/l

Thanks for the input! Not sure if it worth the effort, but I am dead set in making my own bilstein "FCM-style" coilover setup; already have the dampers, and sleeves, springs, valving and shock dyno will set me back 650 at most, most probably less. Thing is I was about to manufacture my own billet extended top mounts, however these came up really cheap (less than materials would cost for me to make my own). So the only thing that bugs me is if the bilstein rod diameter will match the pillowball hole.

unless you have a track only miata I would higher recommend against a solid upper mount, you will feel every paint line in the road.

ironically they use the word "pillow" in the name I can assure you they feel far from that! :toomuch:

That bearing opening is much larger than the shock shaft.. You need to find the two internal black bushings (8 total) that will locate the bearings on your shock shafts.. Also the top hats may or may not have spring locators made for 70mm diameter springs..

Regarding pillow ball versus stock rubber bushing, Randy has a point. But there is a case to case situation where some people can live with the added NVH trade off for a more solid feel..

I'd forgo street basis and continue on with your DIY billy set up.
