Didn't see any threads about this tire so I'm posting here. Something we worked to bring to the market for over 8 years. Finally here! First batch sold out a month ago. Second batch just arrived. More sizes on the way. The VR-1 is a 200tw tire. Not as sticky as the RE71R or Rival-S but still very fast and much longer lasting. We don't sell tires so visit the Maxxis site to learn more or order.

What amazing timing! I was just reading about these and was shopping the Maxxis website looking for info on these. I have 15x9 6ULs and I'm looking for a good DD tire. I can't wait to give the Maxxis a try.

Hi Emilio I saw from one of your threads that this VR-1 has a rim width range of 8-9.5" but MAxxis recommends 8.5

Will a 15x8 rim hold this 245 well then?

You can squeeze these on to just about any size rim but they work best on 10s. Most people are putting them on tonight. I would not bother mounting them on 8s. Just run 225/45 if you are going to do that. My preference for a 15x8 is a 205 50.

Are the 205s any wider than a normal 205? Kind of like the 888 is?

I'm really interested to see how close the 245 VR1 is to the 225 Rival-S. I'll be picking up a set anyway to put one more in the sales column that other companies will we and hopefully help them convince them to make a 245.

Interested in the 205s, out of stock for 2 weeks.

Will this cause rubbing of the tires up front on a 6UL 15x9's ? I have AFCO coilovers, not sure if the 2.75 springs are small enough to accomodate the 245 width.

Haven't checked with anything other than 2.25. I suspect the 2.75" springs may give you problems but likely nothing that a spacer wouldn't fix. These are race fitment tires & wheels. Don't expect and OEM plug n play fitment.

Let me ask why is it that neither 949 Racing or Goodwin Racing sponsors my favorite forum? Anyways after Emilio posted this here it made me realize that indeed 245's makes more sense than the 225's at least in my limited racing knowledge. Altho' he recommends 10's coz' 9's are slower but in essence slower is essentially good for me in my streets plus I need that lip protection from the curbs lol. In racing the 10's probably is perfect but this is just a canyon carver so 9's are good. I have never received a gift by just buying a set of tires but Maxxis knows how to treat their customers right. Free shipping and I ordered on a Friday and I got it the following Tuesday. And that is what they call standard shipping lol. Anyhow here is that new tire mated to a Gen 4th Charcoal 6UL which also shipped so quickly from Goodwin Racing. This combo weighed a grand total of 36 lbs. off my commercial scale. The 6UL tipped the scale at 12.9 and the Maxxis at 23.1 which basically gained me 3.3 lbs per corner compared to my old set-up of Konig Wideopen 15x8 +20 wrapped with 195-50-15 Toyo Proxes. Not bad for a massive contact point gain and a bit of bragging rights against my fellow bench racers lol

This is how this 10th AE should have rolled off the plant IMO. 949 Racing/Emilio really nailed the proper offset on this 15x9's which in my world looks proper for the 245's thus making the car look poised and well behaved lol. Also the BBS looking curves of the 6UL's and the 1"+ amount of lip are perfectly complementing the classic design flow of our Miata.

Have pestered Phat about that very thing over GWR! Randy, we need them here. Chad and myself alone have bought enough to convince them I would think. Cheers Chad! :drinkto:

They can't keep them in stock lol. That is why I kept an extra set. I was told thru email that they are getting a good load by the end of this month. So check constantly. From my experience they usually post availability towards the weekend. When they told me that stock is coming that week I did not see posting till Thursday. G/L
