Quick hint and tip. The chase is going to be at the bottom of the box if no one has overly disturbed it when you find'em. Which car is in the bag is printed on the front in the upper left corner in black. You should see a odd code going down that corner, last two numbers denotes the car (if you look closely (right-click view image), you can see the numbers over the Bat symbol).

I've found these Mystery Models seem to be be packed in order in the boxes. Starting with numbers 1-4 at the bottom and then ending with numbers 11-12 up front. I found two boxes tonight, each only had a single Gold Tumbler. I got the 2nd for my local friend thinking he likely will be interested.

I went to the Monster Jam show at the PNC Arena in Raleigh Saturday. After the show was over I went HW hunting and found a few things.

I was lucky today to find the new Aircooled series! First time for me to get an entire set of the Car Cultures at once. There were 3 or 4 complete sets on the pegs. I wouldn't be surprised if they all get taken by tomorrow.

Eric you gonna sell hot wheels at Miatapalooza? Im probably going to sell a bunch of my old stuff for $1 each just to get rid of all the extras.

I was planning to bring some from what I had pulled out of my collection to sell, but had a guy buy the whole lot Tuesday night, 1590 cars in one shot. I've got a few other boxes to go through so I may still have some stuff to bring, but it's the nicer stuff: RLC, Supers, and such.

This is the first KDay I'll be missing in a very long time. Fortunately a buddy of mine is taking care of me on the receipt side and I gave him enough cardbacks to get two of the Datsuns for me. And aside from the recolor on the Fairlady there is nothing else coming out in the KDay cases that I want.

I'm parting with almost all of my collection, I have entirely too much stuff and it just sits in my closet in boxes. I might ship things, but I don't have protecto packs, FYI. If your name starts with an R and you're going to be at Miatapalooza, then someone has offered to deliver cars just for you :P The yellow Ferrari 250 GTO, red 360 Modena, silver 355 challenge, red 456M and red VW Kafer are spoken for. I think everything else is still available.

That set and the extras are for a friend. I picked up a set and an extra of the Supra and S2K each for myself Monday. I grabbed my friend's Supras & S2Ks then as well. And once I told him I had found the new F&F cars, he asked me to grab him the other 6. Good thing I grabbed the Supras & S2Ks when I did. When I went back to grab him the other 6, no more Supras and only 1 S2K left. There was plenty of the other 6 left.

Now Mattel needs to do the black Civic, Brian's Eclipse, Ja Rule's Integra, Danny's white Civic, Toretto's red RX-7, Jesse's Jetta, Leon's R33, Letty's S14, and Vince's Maxima. Than they'll have done all the main and sub-main cars of the first film.

It's too bad they don't have existing models of those cars. It would be much better to get cars that were actually driven on screen and easily remembered. Instead of the ones that were basically just props. Such as the GT40.

They could do the black Civics (Boulevard casting), the FD RX7 is coming soon, and the R33 has been used a few times, although not recently. Would be nice if they tooled the rest, they'd be easy sellers.

Stopped in Target last week. AS I rounded the corner to the aisle with the Hot Wheels I saw a fellow eyeing the HWs from the other end of the aisle, I think nothing of it honestly since I wasn't expecting to really find anything good. I then look at the racks and see that Super sitting out front. With no hesitation I reached out and grabbed it, and as I was doing so the guy sees it and watches it become mine.

Best timing for getting to the HWs yet.

Nice score! That reminds me, I walked into Game Stop last week looking for a Star Wars figure exclusive, happened to notice a case that said Hot Wheels and asked if I could look through it, and there it was. This one has been eluding me for quite some time. For reference, the Star Wars cars were in another case. Everything was buy one get one half off, so the Super was $0.65 (I didn't buy the mainline version) and fortunately the stickers peeled right off with no trouble.

No problem! For reference, there should not have been different wheels, so this is an error or variation depending on how you classify it. Good luck on your hunt!

See, there's an easy way to solve that problem. You buy a case. Somehow, about 15-30 minutes after putting it on the wall, you'll find it's full of cars. Then you get hours of endless fun shuffling cars around. hahaha!

I could easily fill 2 more cases with displayable loose cars. I've only got wallspace for the 3 cases though. The other cars languish in storage.

I need more wallspace for carded cars too.

I recently got the chance to stop in at Fast Lane Classic Cars in St. Charles, MO. Where, besides all the amazing cars they have for sale, they have a nice selection of diecast for sale in the gift shop.

It might affect the prices a little. The original release being an SDCC exclusive and pretty limited will probably help it retain most of its value though. But this is a nice option for people who don't have one, want one, and don't want to pay the prices the original release is demanding.

Havent posted here in a while.

This Race day set is incredible. Super cool card art. Each car is racing other cars from the set.

Wish they could have used a different manufacturer to replace at least one of the Porsches though.

Great castings made better by fantastic wheel choices. Sweet liveries on each.

That new turbo fan wheel with skinny tire is A+.

Id say my favorite in the set is the NSX. The livery is spot on. The metal base really makes this car. I dont remember the mainline plastic base version being this prominent and good looking. The wheel choice with staggered tires look amazing.

The Mazda is a close second. Wish they would have done a black base so the front grille and chin spoiler would have been black to go better with the wheels. The green in the graphics is a metallic flakey green. Super cool and hard to notice unless out of the package.

Will definitely put these on display.

While I agree that it's a great collection, I also agree that three Porsches seems like a bit of overkill on one marque. Additionally, with a gazillion cars to choose from, was it necessary for the Mazda to be included in a second Car Culture set? My personal favorite is the 914, although I know that casting has been around for quite a while.

And, man, either my local WMs are just completely dropping the ball on new cases this year or there's some super scummy asshole scalping the hell out of things with some sort of inside help. I don't recall seeing a single Zamac in my area out in the wild this year.

Those people likely sell HWs for a living or some side income and it's easier/cheaper to pack and ship a larger quantity than one or two cars at a time.

All of the WMs seem to be dropping the ball, especially since they no longer get bins. Mainline releases are hard to come by there, unless you want Spiderman, Guardians of the Galaxy, Camo, etc., and those aren't selling which prevents reordering of the regular release cases. I've not had much luck at my closest WM anymore anyway, the new toy manager informed me that there are two overnight stockroom guys who collect die cast as well, which explains most of the HWs/MBX/M2 cases coming out to the floor missing cars.

Nice! Congrats! Both N cases I found at Target had the ugly Mustang Super instead of the Camaro as they should have had, apparently pretty common with that case for some reason. A Super is a Super, but definitely would like to find that Camaro instead.

You are right, a Super is a Super, but some are more desirable than others.

Interestingly enough, the very 1st Super I ever found was the '67 Camaro w/ the Summit tampos. My local WM once placed some HW between 2 of the registers and that's where I found it.

Now that I think about it, I wonder how often HWs uses the same model as a Super. I think the '67 Camaro is understandable since it's a long time favorite and a redesign of one of the Original 16. But it can't be too common of an occurrence.

KDay wasn't as nice for my area...event was supposed to start at 9, but heard they started 30min early. And only had 4 master cases.

But a collector gave me a KDay FC RX7, that was nice of him. He mentioned he liked collecting errors, and I found an error car on the pegs for him. He "traded" the error car with me, and gave me a KDay FD RX7. That was the car I wanted the most, so came away happy.

Our KDay was "postponed" until Oct. 7 due to delays caused by the hurricane (the DC for this area is in FL). Oddly enough a few of us had called our store the day before and they told us the event was still on and that they had already received the cases. On Saturday the manager claimed that they hadn't received anything yet. Either way, this store will likely receive the cases and then just peg the cars, leaving nothing for the 7th. And it's just far enough away to be inconvenient to check regularly. We'll see though!

POST Hurricane Irma 7-OCT Kmart K-Day for Florida Collectors (Thumbs Down)

So our event was originally cancelled due to Hurricane IRMA, it was then moved to the 7th of October (this past weekend)

We had well over 40+ collectors, probably due to more store closings in the area Brandon, FL and Tampa, FL lots of people I had never seen before, probably scalpers looking for T-hunts

In case Mattel is reading this (hoping they are) we one got ONE master case, apparently the Brandon, FL Kmart says they only could find 1 case in the back, which is hard to believe since they generally get at least 6 to 8 master cases at each event.

I talked with another collector that was at the Tampa, FL Kmart on Busch Blvd and they told him that all the master cases they got had been STOLEN during the Hurricane!! SERIOUSLY??? What is wrong with people!!!

What kind of $&*@ is this that people have to steal Hot Wheels cars let alone during a hurricane? Most of use had been worried about getting Gas, Bread and Water, and Generators for power and yet we have some low-life pond scum comes to steal the Hotwheels?

Im guessing it was an inside job. Becasue seriously, the average person would not steal .99 cent toys. And who else would know where they even keep it or what to look for?

Someone did say there was a Lady from Mattel at our store asking folks questions about the event, im sure she got an earfull if she spoke to the regulars.



I rarely complain on here but this was the worst event ever, I do wonder how other events in Florida went if at all?

Boxing Day was a success for me. On a whim I decided to go to Greenville to do some HWs hunting. Main goal was to find the Cars & Donuts Car Culture set.

Totally surprised I found the Porsche and Lambo BotW Matchbox cars at TRU. I thought I'd be SOL on finding those when I 1st saw images of them on T-Hunted. Especially the Miura. I think I was almost more excited to find that than the Cars & Donuts cars later at Target.

Last thing that was a big surprise was the Retro Ent. BttFIII Delorean. Almost missed them, someone stashed them up on the top of the isle facing backwards.

Oh, I found one of the M2 1/500 Pez trucks at my local WM a few days ago, that was neat. Left it for someone else. And whoever that someone else was, they found it within the next day. Anyways, when I found that I found the new Retro Ent. Forza set, that was nice. Kind of regreting not getting an extra CSL and Ford GT to open.

Speaking of, I saw one of the TRU boxed sets of the new Forza cars... opened and missing the BMW CSL and Ford GT. Some people are animals.

BTW, anyone need a silver Matchbox ND? Every time I find one, I pick it up (and it's always just 1). I think I'm up to 7 extras of it.
