1st time ive seen a oil filter leak at its seal in the can. not much leak but annoying

These seal via an o-ring; tightening it a bit more may work well.

Just don’t use thread locker and an impact gun.

I'd just replace the filter. If the seam is leaking I'd wonder if there were any issues internally.

When you remove the oil filter, double check that the old seal did not stick to the engine block before you install the new filter.

So true. It happens. I just slick up the new filter seal with a dip of my fingers in old oil and hand tighten. I run another bead with my index finger on the block to lubricate and also check for any fragments on the surface.
