?? Supermiata Crossflow Radiator. vs FM Crossflow

Anyone here running this? Looking for some feedback on either system

How do you like it, how was the install? Is your car street or track? Turbo, S/C, or N/A?

I am considering this one to replace my OEM radiator

or the FM version. https://www.flyinmiata.com/fm-na-crossflow-radiator.html

Too racecar for you. :)

I'm going to guess that the SuperMiata logo will be covered by the intercooler, which, I believe can be mounted with or without the FM lettering showing. I should have mine reversed for more stealth.

Randy, I'm using an inexpensive OPL unit on my BRG/FM2 car. It's the one thing I skimped on, as the FM radiator was foolish money at the time, and I wasn't aware of this as an alternative.

If/when I sell the BRG, I hope to use this radiator with a SPAL fan setup for my '94.

Was pointed to look into this one more by Flyin Miata .... looks like they have improved their design and lowered the original crazy price to a more reasonable level

Ouch. I’d hate to see what it cost before.

Flyin Miata says "The final design is a cross flow."
Darn, I have a high tech radiator in my 1979 Ford Thunderbird!

Never had Supermiata's radiator, but I have FM's Stage 2 airflow kit with their Crossflow Radiator.

Spectacular piece of kit - requires some modification to the wiring loom to properly power the second fan (in NA6 cases anyway). If you're sat in traffic or at a light on a hot day then the fans will kick in to help push more air through the radiator, they can get noisy though - I seem why their Stage 3 kit exists re fan noise. But that's the fans, not the radiator.

The radiator itself is more chunky and a tad heavier, but cools the engine better as a result. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you need a new radiator anyway, but it's not something I'd replace if it can wait. Depends on your needs.

Is this to cool your turbo setup?? :winky: :frantic:

yes that is the plan :)

Then I Would go with it. Emilio (over) builds/designs parts. If its good enough for track cars in Cali, its good enough for boosted cars in FL.

Did Jackson Racing ever come out with their radiator with built in oil cooler for the miata? That looked like a nice set up. I was thinking of that with the new FM fans.

Still too hot outside to bother installing any of this stuff. Hopefully we get some cool weather soon..

Yesterday I just received my Flyin Miata V8 cross flow, dual-pass radiator for my Ecotec project. This radiator has both radiator hose necks on the same side. That should clean up my plumbing immensely, I hope!

Missed this thread.

Can't vouch for Supermiata's version. Both companies are reputable, we all know that

I own FM's Crossflow with their Stage 2 Airflow kit. Their Stage 3 looks incredible, but expensive due to the parts they use. :fab:

Within reason, FM tends to lean more towards everyday use with track visits in mind. Supermiata is very focused on endurance track racing, it'll depend entirely on you use. I can't see either system's not being able to perform how they need to, espcially if you use 2 fans instead of the stock 1. If you go as far as a reroute too I can't see anyone ever having high temperatures. :D

Edit: For reference, Street driven NA w/dual fan setup. Built top end on a 1.6, pushing around 165hp, needle never goes into the "hot" section. I run a very conservative anti-freeze/water mix all year 'round too. If you live somewhere hot enough to need air conditioning then you can probably get away with running just water in the rad for half the year...

Is this for the FMII kit Randy?! :winky:

yes it surely is, just getting all the accessories now before I install the turbo kit. I know I totally bought all this stuff in the wrong order but there was a local guy selling a brand new in the box FM2 for 1.6L at a great price so could not pass that up.

Is the kit plug and play? Do you need a fan controller?
