5/10/11:

First of all, this is a college budget build. Anyways, here goes a long post...

Here is a pic of the car before I bought it, the previous owner was at the track up here in Shawano:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2280/5709242354_e047c16446_z.jpg

I got the car in September 2010, already boosted. Bought it with the specs below making 190whp and 200wtq:
Motor-related:
BEGI ceramic coated cast iron manifold
BEGI stainless steel divorced wastegate downpipe
BEGI fuel pressure regulator
Garrett GT2554R @ 10-12 psi
AVO front mount intercooler
AVO blow off valve
AEM fuel ignition controller tuned at Beyond Redline
AEM UEGO wideband AFR gauge
Walbro 190hp fuel pump
305cc injectors
Stewart Warner boost gauge
Voodoo III manual boost controller
OBX 2.36" cat-back exhaust
ACT heavy duty clutch

Suspension and Brakes:
15x7 +38 Kosei K1 rims
KYB AGX 8 way adjustable shocks
450lb/350lb springs with adjustable sleeves
Hawk HPS brake pads

Miscellaneous:
Boss Frog Clearview 6 point roll bar
Flyin' Miata frame rail reinforcement kit
Hella E-code H4 headlights - 6000K HIDs (both high and low beam)
Pioneer amp wired to 6.5" Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers
Smoked daytime driving lights
JVC CD player

Here is some pics a few days after I picked it up, I already removed some stickers and blacked out the sidemarkers. I also took off the flat black vented headlight lids and put on the stock, color matched lids. I will probably try to sell the vented lids.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5297/5584108622_523d9bb660_z.jpg

Now it has ~131,000 miles. Since the pics above I've tucked away some small things in the engine bay, cleaned up the interior, rewired a bunch of stuff, and did a bunch of cleaning but nothing else too major.

I couldn't wait to install this, so I threw it on in the cold weather. Wink 5-panel mirror:

205/50/15 Nitto NeoGen tires:

R-Package rear lip:

R-Speed hood lift kit:

Custom white-face gauges:

And I'm currently waiting for some NB Raceland coilovers with some NB top hats to arrive. I got a good deal on them and want to replace the tired suspension that the car is currently on, plus I would love to go quite a bit lower and maybe throw some spacers on the K1's :)

I'm also not sure if I should remove the pin-stripe that is peeled away on the passenger door already, or not. I'm leaning towards doing it once it gets warmer out, opinions?

I would love to get a Megasquirt with some bigger injectors and turn up the boost to make about 250 rwhp, but it's going to have to wait. I also have some small plans for the interior if money permits.

Sorry for such a long first post, but this thread will be updated as I make progress. Be sure to stay tuned!

Got around to installing the R-Speed hood lift kit that I ordered, yesterday.

Works great, much better than the wooden stick I was given when I bought the car!

I also shot this pic today, thought it was pretty cool:

6/4/11:

Finished installing the rear coilovers a few days ago. Took way longer than expected because I couldn't get the stock NA top hat bolts off to take the whole assembly out. So I ended up just keeping the NA top hats in and added some washers on top to make the NB Racelands fit.

I went to a local show today with some friends. Got lots of stuff done just in time.
- Installed front Touge Run lip
- Plasti-dipped the R-package rear lip and installed it
- Sanded flaking red paint off all calipers and repainted them silver
- Sprayed the tails all red to get rid of the stock orange section
- Bought and installed new battery and battery tie down because it didn't have one
- Wired up amp to speakers and mounted it in the trunk
- Cleaned and degreased engine bay, that shit was nasty
- Cleaned and detailed the interior

Go bungs welded into my intake piping for my new recirculating blow off valve, then installed that. Also put a bung in for my idle air control valve to fix the ghetto connection via silicon elbow. I need to get used to this quiet blow off valve now. While I was messing around under the hood I took out the charcoal canister and changed some of the blue silicon vacuum hoses to black (thank god). The ones that are still blue will be changed to black when I order more hose.

I also got a 2.5" test pipe in the mail the other day and went to install it, only to find that it wasn't even close to fitting. So I had my friend cut it up and weld it back together so it fits. That's installed, but the car is still really quiet. I'll be looking for a bigger exhaust with less resonators.

And to finish up all this work, I installed a Pioneer radio that I bought. It's a nice bluetooth model, tons better than the old JVC unit. I also tuned it to sound really good.

I will be ordering some new goodies soon and will have updated pics of everything tomorrow.[

I installed some sweet yellow fog lights, I'll get pics of them tomorrow. I also took a few wires out of the engine bay today. It looks noticeably different under the hood now. Painting the intake piping should finish it off.

2/15/12:

I sold the bike for $1,000. I'd love to buy a Torsen and new radiator so I can slide around a bit. If college wasn't so expensive, I'd like to get a deep dish steering wheel, a new shift knob and boot, and some 20mm wheel spacers. I'd say that the future holds some bigger injectors and a MegaSquirt accompanied by 15psi, but that looks like a dream at this point. I need to fuck with the Racelands and install my oil catch can when I go home this weekend, I'll be taking the car out for the first time since September. I'm praying she's not going to be a bitch to me for not touching her since then.

Other good news, I got the new Droid RAZR and I love it. I got a sweet car dock that should let me wirelessly bluetooth music and directions to my Pioneer headunit. Can't wait to try it out. I've been dying to to go out and do a photoshoot, so if the weather is nice this weekend you guys might see a few new pics :)

PS: I have some vented headlight lids that I probably will be selling, so if anyone is interested, let me know.

Here's some pics that I dug up, I don't think I've posted them on here before:

3/6/12:

Sold my 205/50 tires today. She's sitting dirty on stands for a few weeks. Gonna order some 195/45's and some 25mm spacers. While I'm waiting I'm going to get the K1's sandblasted by a friend for free, then probably spray 'em white with a little flake. Should turn out pretty nice, but I've never sprayed rims before.

I've got the following on the way:

360mm deep dish steering wheel
white shift knob
new shift boot
random silicon couplers and hoses and filters
some sweet ass stickers

My plan is to install all of this plus my white face gauges over spring break in two weeks. Then I'll plasti-dip my front and rear lips, roll my fenders, paint my rollbar white, and probably do a semi-tuck under the hood. She should be looking pretty at the end of the month, and she might even get a Torsen :)

Oh it is. Lots of plans for the upcoming week:

Install radiator, flush and fill coolant, wire tuck, paint intercooler piping, install breather, install all new black vacuum hoses, install shift boot, install shift knob, install steering wheel and hub, add washers to the rear top hats, roll/pull fenders, install spacers, grind down stock studs on each hub, paint the wheels, get the tires installed, repaint the front and rear lips, change the oil, install new gauge cluster, and then put on some stickers.
