I know that a lot of you guys, love cars so much, that they have to collect models of your favorites. Some people (my wife) say it's a sickness, I like to think of it as a hobby. Sure if I invested half the money I've spent on toys over the years into my Miata, it might have an LS1 engine swap already! :teehee:

Haha, that's not fair starting a thread like this when you have hundreds of nice models perfectly displayed. Do you collect antique computers and monitors too? ;)
Love the collection. I have a few Matchbox cars, not worth posting. I just buy them because they're yellow and 99 cents.

HA ha ha ha...my office circa 2003! Now it's all lap tops, lasers, and photon beams. I have about 3000 1:64th scale Hot Wheels, Matchbox, and Johnny Lightning as well.
This was from a photo shoot I did for work, using some of my redlines.
http://www.fagerquist.com/miata/toys/redlines.jpg
Truth be told, I sold 150 of the big (1:18th scale) cars. I kept the race cars (Porsche 917, 904, GT40, Lola, Indy).

Wow! Impressive collection! I have way too many cars, but I had to take mine off the walls once my kids got big enough to yank them off the walls. :fp:
Most of mine are 1/64 scale hot wheels. Ill try to dig up some old photos and post them up.............
This was all I could find, taken back in 2004. I think there is more on my Cardomain page.

Nice stuff Randy. You are making me want to go and break out some of my Hotwheel collection that's trapped in Rubbermaid boxes. I remember back in 1996, when they were new models, finding 21 Drag Busses in one store. I had 60+ of the original blue racing bus at one time. Talk about heavy. I think we can trade something...Hotwheels for Miata parts? :teehee:

That's a serious collection. I have a few select ones from the last few years, but nothing to awesome. The Mazda Furai, and Arkhan Assylum Batmobile are probably my faves. I had a nice little 1:18 collection, but they went to storage when the boy-child became mobile. I might have to drag them out again soon.

Good eyes!!! I wish I still had it...I am a big softy, and gave it to our good friend's son, a 10 year old little boy. He LOVED it. It was a pain to move around, but in great condition...a store model with an extra rig w/eye hook to hang it from the ceiling of the store.

Definitely commendable! I'm sure it's one of his favorite things! I had lined things up to get a store model too, I was there when they were taking it down and got to watch it take its final flight. :( Was not repairable unfortunately.

The garage pieces are from the GMP 1:18 tool sets, the two '32 Fords are GMP/ACME pieces; the Southern Speed & Marine and Aero Rod. As for the garage itself, it's something I cobbled together with some comic backing boards, a pen and tape measure. The magazine sitting on the work bench is a Hot Rod mag that I scanned, reduce to scale and taped to some comic backing board.
You can still find the GMP 1:18 tool sets on ebay. I'll get some fresh pics tonight after dinner.

Anyone else go through all of the copies of a single Hot Wheels car at a retailer looking for the "best" one? Because I've noticed that basic 1:64 Hot Wheels don't have the most consistent painting and printing. And it always still seems like a roll of the dice since you can't see the other side of them until you get them out of the pack.

^ Go for it Randy! I'm honored you'd wanna show that off. I think it's a bit poor. hahaha!
Setup: My backyard. That's the leaf-covered lawn and my sidewalk.
I set both cars to the left side and pushed them across the scene. Then I jumped over to the camera and tried to pan them. Long-ish shutter speed on manual exposure. The camera is just on the ground and rotating. I got a ton of shots with no car in it at all. It was just trial and error. It woulda been a lot easier with someone to push the cars, but no one else was home.
okay will do! be prepared for a lot of new traffic to your website! hahhahaha

I just get the best of what's left, if that's the case in my area. I have no idea if there's any serious collectors in my area. There probably is, but I've never ran into any. I always check out the Hot Wheels when I'm in places like Wal-Mart and the such. I'd buy more if they didn't go too far with stripes and graphic designs on so many of the cars. I mean, yeah, they're for kids, but kids would still think they're awesome if the models of real cars weren't as wild looking.
There's been quite a few times I'd see something I like then end up not buying it because of, what I feel is, excessive graphics.

Holy christ!
Kind of makes all of the Hot Wheels I've collected so far look like shit. That, and it makes me want to figure out a better way of storing/presenting my collection.

All of this.
Where does one find those clear cases you have mounted on the walls?

Check Ebay for the plastic cases. Carney makes them.

I've been thinking about getting some pics of the Hot Wheels I've opened and stored in those sewing thread roll organizers you can get off amazon. I also have come to the conclusion I need more of them. Anyways, here's the pics.

You may notice there's a bit of organizing going on. But I have obviously ran out of space.
The last couple of pics has the cars from my youth that are still in good enough condition to be presentable.
Also, the ERTL Speed Strips. Don't know if anyone else remembers or knows of them. But, you put the cars on that black box/stand and they work like a View Master. In this case, you get a 4 panel comic strip showing each car escaping the cop. I think what I have is a complete set of the cars themselves.

Jamie you can get the thread cases cheaper on JCPenny online. $9 each. Free shipping over $100 worth. You look like you can use more lol.

Where? I'm only finding them listed for $21.

Right now they're $9.74 on Amazon.

Free shipping over $35.
I will probably buy them off amazon since I usually buy about 2 or 3 at a time. Usually 2 and a few more items I've been eyeing on Amazon to hit that free shipping mark.

Found some old photos on my phone of some of my loose collection. Some have dubs from Kmart days. Anyhow thought I would share these.
