i've got a set of wheels that i think i'm going to throw some free R888's on. they have decent tread left. i only drive the miata about 2000 miles a year. yes, i know these are "R" compound race tires. Rev limiter and all, how much wear do you get out of them? i really don't feel like buying a new set of tires if i have these R888's for free, but then again i don't want to blow through a free set of tires just to save money. make sense what i'm askin here??

race tires flatten when they sit on a parked car. don't be disturbed if they feel flatspotted when you drive on them for the first time after the car sat for a while.

i'm usually disturbed when i drive the miata anyways. nothing out of the ordinary. :D my summer tires do the same thing.

I use R888's and Yokohama advan ao48's on the street. I also swap between them when im drifting for the front tyres. Have done for years now. :) Love them. However there is word they plan on banning them here in the UK this year.........

holy crap! i could break the mold!!! the car has been on the track for 4 years now. :D already on R888's for the track, but i got a brand new pair and a set of 15's that need tires. figured why not.. then i don't have to swap out when i get to the track either. :D

Why? Braking in the wet?

Im not sure on the reason, probably because of that to be honest.

they aren't terrible in the rain, at least at 1/2-full tread. obviously less than "ideal" wet tires, though.

ive been using them for dailying for about 5k miles now, easy driving with some fun twisties every once and a while. no real tire wear to report yet... i drive fairly slowly though

in rain, no issues here... but like i said, im a slow and cautious driver

they humm like no other though haha

not quite as bad as A032r's hum!!! :D i've had both on the miata.

The reason they might be banned is most likely due to not meeting new road noise regulations.
