I have always liked the Italia body kit (very well done), but come on...there's always room for two Miatas....especially a BRG!!! Do you remember the build number of your BRG?

-Jim

I would have preferred to keep the BRG, but with 3 little boys needing time, attention, and money I can see my wife's side. I never took the time to find that car’s number. It had almost 200k miles and needed quite a bit of mechanical maintenance/restoration. It was one of those cars that looks okay from 15 feet away, but gets worse the closer you get.

Really? I've been thinking about removing it once I get a re-spray.

I had a rack on my red '91, and it was a pain to wash & wax around, plus I had a trunk spoiler, which made it even more visually jumbled. I like it on your BRG, because it blends better, you don't have the spoiler, AND it compliments that "Roadster" feel that BRG's naturally evoke. All you need is a smart leather trunk strapped down to it. Yours is the only BRG that I've seen with a trunk rack.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7062/6885293887_c596a4b1d0_z.jpg

-Jim

P.S. If you take the rack off, you'll be left with a trunk lid, riddled with holes....ask me how I know.

Paint issues? Having purchased my BRG used, I have some paint issues that I am looking to fix with a respray. My biggest issue is peeling/burned clear coat on a few of the body panels. I know that BRG didn't come with clear coat, but I wonder how many of you have a similar problem? Did anyone repaint their BRG and USE a 2 stage paint with clear coat?

-Jim

Yes and yes. Mine had clear for some reason, but it never peeled. I've repainted everything but the doors/a pillar with base/clear

Mine is fading, it is most noticeable on the front bumper. When I removed my carpeting to install my rollbar, I couldn't believe how deep the green was compared to the exposed exterior. I have a love-hate relationship with the summer because paint fade is always in the back of my mind on a sunny day. When it gets repainted, a clear is a must.

Hi Jim !

the wheels are MAS 7 x 15. They were in the original accessories listed by MAZDA Germany in 90/91. (I know cause I got the original brochure)
As far as i know they are even in germany not often to buy. MAS was an german manifacturer.

The car was still original as I bought it last year. But first thing I must do, was changing the steering wheel in NARDI classico. In my opinion a must have for roadster-style.
Then I've changed the brake and shift knob for wooden NARDI (from NB Model) and tan boots. At least I've changed the soft-top for a tan coloured some weeks ago.
It had 132.000 kilometers on the clock as I bought it. Now it will take the 150.000 in a few days.

Here's a snapshot from inside:

And you wanna know what's bugging the hell out of me?... As much as I like the TSI's I have, the more I see BRG's with the stock parking lights, the more I want to re-install them. I think the car looks better with the stock lights than the TSI's. Imagine that!

Please excuse the absolute mess the BRG is in right now, although, the paint is a horrible mess anyway. On that note, the interior and full mechanics is near mint. I'd have no issue hopping in it right now and driving all the way to Alaska and back.

Thanks!

That's why I'm always hesitant and embarrassed to post pics of my car. Even when I was it, it still looks like poop with the shot paint on the trunk and hood, and that stupid white fender. The wheels clean up nice though.

The LED headlights are excellent. Loads of light down the road as well as plenty of light to the sides of the road. They have a very wide spread and long reach. Their cut-off is sharp. Their overall output is every bit as good as any HID I've come across in my travels to and from work every day. They are definitely worth the money!

Actually, there's a member on TBM's that PM'ed me a few weeks ago that has a white Miata with a BRG front right fender. I've been busy with work and other things and haven't been able to get a meet date with him. I'm gonna try to see if we can meet sometime next week or weekend.

91BRG
04-22-2014, 09:09 PM
Yes, it is numbered but the only way to know is from the original gear knob it came with. The previous owner(s) wore it down quite a lot so the number #42 is barely legible (I think there were 300 Limited Edition BRGs released in Aus for the NA6, and 75 for NA8). I'm just using a generic woodgrain gear knob and handbrake lever at the moment but I do have the new nardi evolution wood knob and handbrake handle that will go on with some other stuff.

Canada offered BRG up to 1997 (black cloth interior)

In the UK, they offered BRG in many years, engines, and interiors... UK members may know more.

I couldn't let my baby go. I have so many parts in the mail and I am hoping for a repaint by the end of the year.

I'm so happy. The crushed quarter panel was repaired with very, very minimal amounts of bondo, I was very impressed with the metalwork. The only imperfection is that there is a slight gap between fender and the rear bumper.

I have had my BRG since 2003. First 3 owners were the same family and it has 121K miles on the clock. I bought an older Mercedes SL and found it to be slow and boring. Kept the Miata and sold the Merc.

I too need a Gentlemans Club Key Ring. Where do I send my money?

Still trying to make this site work. I can't see how to post a picture.

Thanks, but in reality (and in bright light) it's a mess. A few different shades of BRG. I find she looks best in darker, overcast, wet weather. I'm hoping to get her repainted next spring. The problem is, I have to get the color just right. The few auto body places I've talked to, didn't give confidence that they will get the original Mazda BRG. We'll see.

I have one quick question for BRG (91) guys.
Have you any sticker on passenger side (when you open the doors)? /maybe on RHD cars it will be on drivers side :) /
I think there is VIN sticker on mk2, but I am not sure if there is anything in there on mk1.
I saw some cars from USA which had some sticker in there, but I also saw some (probably from Europe) whose doesnt had anything in there.
