Hey ladies and gents. I'll make this my newb thread and my build thread and cut out the BS. Name is Hayden. From Minnesota. Blah blah blah. I'm on MNMazda and on CR.net. Some people may have seen this from CR. But figured I'd come over here and see what's what. Anywho, on to the build. Im going to try and keep it simple and low on coversation and high on pics. Some stuff will make you think WTF are you doing. But feel free to ask questions and express concerns.

Last fall, I embarked myself on a journey to put my automotive design to reality. Figured what better platform for a good looking, fun, track ready car that can be driven daily than an MX-5. So I went and picked up a slightly beat up, but in good shape none the less, 92 NA Miata. Top was torn up pretty good, rolled on factory steelies, and was just generally old looking.

While waiting for coils to come in I decided to start small with a simple cowl vented/induction hood scoop.

So with that going well, I decided, why not start tearing about the front bumper. And start making a mold for the lower portion.

And with that it was time for a test fit. While at the same time, the hood scoop was epoxied down and smoothed out.

While all this happened, it was time for yet another order. Momo steering wheel, corbeau a4's, harnesses, and a boss frog double hoop roll bar. Wheel showed up first.

The "slit" is there for a purpose. Air travels through it, over the engine and vents out of the hood scoop, keeping engine temp down. I have tested it.

Thank you sir. Yeah the number one thing on the mind while designing the car was no rice. I guess the best way I could describe the design is, enough to catch attention and have presence, but not so much that it looks like an after thought. I want it to look like a kit that belongs on the car.

And regarding the boost question. Ill have more to say about that tomorrow. :mrgreen:

Body work is coming along. Spacers still need to go on. Started finishing off the lips of the flares so they are nice and clean and not sharp raw fiberglass.

Yeah. The design is a love/hate kind of thing. But unfortunately, if ya don't like it, well that's just tough titties. Lol. If you don't like it, design one yourself. Hell I'll even build it for you!! :mrgreen:

Regarding the hole and hood scoop and temp business. I took a couple air temp gauges to it before and after. Noticed a pretty decent drop in air temps under the hood. And surprisingly lowered air temps around the intake source. When the air travels through the nose hole it travels up over the engine and out the hoodscoop, pumping cool air in and hot air out. Initially it was mostly for aesthetics but when I figured out that it somewhat functions, bonus I guess. Ill probably run more tests once the turbo goes in. The hood design isn't necessarily final yet.

And honestly the side looks pretty goofy without the door swoop. Once its all blended in, smoothed, and painted it will look better I feel.

I made a sort of write up for this over at CR. http://clubroadster.net/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=61569 . But haven't quite gotten into the wiring part yet. Basically the only wiring needed is for the lighting, the fuel guage, and the tach.

To even out the level of the body I extended the rear bumper 3 inches and am building an F430 style diffuser that will accomodate my dual center exit exhaust.
