ive never seen this before.
what is the specific cause of this? Clutch kicks at 15psi ?
it happened while running in the mountain, generally alot nicer then at the track

Also.
who makes fm's clutch.?

Wow. Nice. I don't know what to tell you about that. Perhaps a call to Keith at FM may be in order?

Never seen that before, however when it comes to something like a clutch im kinda leery on installing a previously used one unless I know the owners car it came from. Not sure who makes the one for FM, but I had an ACT clutch in my last miata and it would bite down like a pitbull on crack, I would get yourself another ACT if you do a lot of track racing.

i agree, i'm all about the ACT clutch. i had one back in the piston engine, and it was amazing for drifting and racing. then when i got rid of the engine, i sold it and the guy who bought it is still running that clutch today. that was probably 2004-2005ish.
in the rotary i run a 6puck ACT and its been great despite the abuse it receives.

The pp is purple.
i couldnt afford an act this time. Or couldnt wait to locate one. however i do believe thats the only clutch that will take the abuse without crying.
Unfortunately, i had to install a gripforce 6 puck sprung.
the cheaper clutch does have 6 smaller springs, which i think will distrubute the madness more evenly. i feel the large springs that broke the cap were to heavy.
Im hoping this last about 20 events and maybe 3/4k miles till the end of the year.

ACT clutches are made by Exedy...ACT dosent even remove the Exedy stamp on them, they just repackage them....just buy exedy.

Exedy doesnt offer anything with a high enough torque rating

Leonard, are you using a 1.6 or a 1.8 clutch?

Perhaps the heat exposed a weakness in the metal? I've never seen one fail in that manner either.

Another nod for ACT set-ups. That's what we run.
