After 8 months of patiently waiting my D-Technique M2-1001 front bumper has arrived from Japan. 1 of 1 in the USA.

^ is that any different from the gho? looks identical

GHO took a mold of a complete M2-1001 bumper upper and lower section. Their front bumper is all one piece fiberglass and is a complete replacement front bumper.

At the request of Club M2, D-Technique took a mold of a M2-1001 lower section only. Their front bumper is two-pieces consisting of the fiberglass lower portion mated to an OEM urethane front bumper upper half that's been cut. Because it uses the same construction method as the original, it is a more authentic replica of the M2-1001 front bumper. There was only ever ~300 M2-1001 made. M2 went out of business in 1995 and they never had many repair parts on hand to begin with and whatever there was dried up quickly.

I'm sure a Club M2 member with a genuine M2-1001 could ask Toshihiro-san to make a new D-Technique bumper. But for the rest of us, it is no longer available new. There used to be one other car in the USA with this same front bumper. Shin Yoshikawa of Studio Time Capsule used to own a yellow Maruha Motors demo car in California for many years. That car was a huge inspiration for me. Now it resides with a new owner in British Columbia and is looked after by Ocean at Chikara Motorsports.

The Red is supposed to be as close to 93 LE Red as they can get, it is a dark red but not a perfect match.

Not as baller as many instrument clusters in this forum, but it's a big deal for me. It's the single piece I wanted from the very first moment I had a Miata, and the second most exciting package I received, after Revlimiter gauges and stuff.

Now only to find a way to swap the KG works panel to my cluster... any advice? I have no clue

Demon I Am
10-14-2015, 08:24 AM
Easy Peasy.

On the KGW cluster:
A: Use a screwdriver to push in the balck tabs on the back side of the cluster, and gently seperate.

Remove your cluster:
3 screws under the steering column cover. Pull the upper section off.
2 screws under the instrument hood. Pull quickly but gently in a smooth line towards you. These are notoriously brittle, clips may break and the whole thing may shatter. Be careful.
4 screws hold on the cluster to the dash
2 wiring harness connectors on the back side, and the speedo cable. Push in the tabs and pull the harnesses towards front of car. Squeeze the sides of the speedo, and pull the cluster towards you.
IF installing Revlimiter gauges follow the directions on his site:
Otherwise, repeat Step A on the current cluster and swap.

I'd say keep 'em, strip them, repaint and fit new bushings. Then remove the "old" ones currently on Madison and sell those instead. For a street car, I would stick to OEM or IL Motorsport rubber bushings instead of polybushings.

Thanks! It had quite the journey getting to me.

The seller of this lip wouldn't ship, but I wanted it. So with the help of friends, I have it.

It started in California, where the seller brought it to MRLS. Fwdtamiya did me the huge favor of picking it up, and then took it one step further by taking it to Formula Drift Irwindale. From there it rode in a friend's race trailer back to FL, near Gainesville. Finally, another friend picked it up and brought it to my drift event. And then I brought it home.

It's a TBO/Regulus lip. I haven't seen many of them. I wasn't a fan at first, but it grew on me.

Got some stuff in the mail again today.

DDM Works panel for radio and gauges. Ordered this after my attempt to make a panel out of ABS didn't work so well.

http://i.imgur.com/c2wN9JAl.jpg

This had its own issues. Apparently AEM gauges aren't exactly 2 1/16".
This is as far as the gauge would go in, even with a rather large amount of force.

http://i.imgur.com/ABvSamyl.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/f6lI5dbl.jpg

So about 15 minutes with my Dremel, and we got it working.

http://i.imgur.com/IscXr7Sl.jpg

The gauges still need a bit to be set in place, and are somewhat friction fit even though I'll be using the brackets in back.

And I've ordered a new head unit to better match the panel, and replace the tired, archaic JVC that came with the car. Sorry Adam, it's not another JVC.

I was thinking this was a trick or treat scenario, but was pleasantly surprised.

Inside the first bag was a set of RevLimiter Hardtop Security doohickeys.
http://i.imgur.com/6UqX0Fcl.jpg
Sorry for your OCD.

When I got the Miata, I wanted a way to keep my hardtop from walking away and asked Adam about these, but unfortunately they were all gone. But I guess in time that my want for them got Adam to order more, so he sent me some. I believe they should be back in the store soon.

That left us with the Halloween bag. It was definitely a treat.

http://i.imgur.com/0DccVmy.jpg

I definitely enjoy candy, but seeing the hint of bubble wrap in the back interested me. Bubble wrap means protection. But for what....

http://i.imgur.com/15TQwi8l.jpg

Last week, while using my Miata to commute, my father hit a huge piece of plastic (looked like a side-skirt of some sorts) which ripped off my gv replica lip. He dragged it home under the car which damaged it beyond repair.

Yesterday an OEM lip showed up for sale, for 120 euros, when new one costs 200 euros from IL motorsport. Should I get it? I liked the style of the Garage Vary lip (even though it was a fake), but the OEM is more subtle.

Personally, I would restore it. There are a few tutorials on how to do it right. Take your time, and you'll have a steering wheel that you're proud of.

Thanks for both your answers. The wheel will probably get professionally restored (for really cheap). As for the lip, I still don't know, I kinda want the OEM, but I am lacking the funds to buy it now.
I'd say get the OEM style...the reps are cheaper off eBay and the one I have fits pretty nicely. That combined with the TDR splitter is a pretty nice combo.

I just installed one of the ebay gv rep lips on my car that fits horribly. OE style ones seem to fit a bit better.

Also visited Car Make Corn's while I was there! Had a long chat with the shop owner, Watanabe-san, and bought a couple key chains and a new Okuyama (Carbing) vertical tow hook.

Awesome combo key+keychain!

Did you also buy pole position key in Tokyo downtown? Where?
I've a friend living there but it has been impossible to get one of this awesome keys.

Thanks! I bought the pole position from the Super Autobacs in Kyoto (near Saiin station, on Shijo-dori). They're all out now. :P

They've been discontinued for a while, but, from what I've seen, it seems like every Super Autobacs still carries left-over stock of pole positions. You just can't tell what sizes they have until you visit. In Tokyo, I checked the Tokyo Bay Shinonome Super Autobacs, but they only had a lot of Honda sizes. Subaru/180SX sizes are also still common.

If your friend travels around anytime, tell him/her to look for a nearby Super Autobacs and pop in for a visit. I was planning to comb through more stores in Kansai and stockpile a few more, but I only found time to check those two stores. Also, you'll find about half the sizes are on sale; miata sizes were.

Also, I'm almost certain only Super Autobacs have them, not regular Autobacs. Only checked one Autobacs, but there was nothing.

New-to-me Nardi wheel and my old Voodoo knob.

They are patiently waiting for the right NA to find it's way into my driveway.

I sure hope so! Can't wait to put them all together and drive the damn thing.

I need your thoughts on something. I bought the wheel, horn button, horn ring and OEM hub from a V-Spec stupidly cheap.

The wood has some small cracks in some places, nothing major, but the clear coat has turned yellow and has a lot of cracks on the top section. Should I refurbish it, sand it down etc, or should I leave it original, as it is, with its story?

you will love that combination!

Got a set of Rotas, Grid V 15x8 et0. I know, replicas etc, but I traded them for a fuji lsd and some cash, so I figured, why not.

Next up, is to finish my interior. Then I have to swap passenger side door (the driver's that looks like crap is swapped, and has only cosmetic flaws, otherwise it's better than the ones my car had), swap my trunk lid, and I have to find a front and a rear bumper, with their support rods etc.

After all these are done, off we go to the body shop for a respray, possibly around summer, I hope,

So I bought myself some slightly early birthday presents. One came today.

Look, some pretty old HotWheels. But what else is in there?

http://i.imgur.com/mAjgnOAl.jpg

Yep. Bought some fancy fancy. I remember seeing KG TSIs many years ago and thinking they were unattainable, and something I'd never have. But now I do. Not sure how they'll look on Lobo, but we'll find out soon enough.

I also bought a new to me laptop today. This one will have a specific use for Lobo. Can anyone guess what's happening tonight?

Just picked this up:

It's a Garrett GT2871r. Will be a little while before i install. I need to do some maintenance first. Need to do timing belt and water pump. Also need to replace all the engine seals cuz it leaks oil everywhere lol. Going to source an LSD and will also be raising the car a bit. Will also need to order a Megasquirt for engine management. I plan to have it installed and tuned by next summer :)

The turbo is good for 250-350whp, but i won't be building the motor just yet so i will be aiming just below 250whp.

RS8's, nice! Still debating if I should get a set in 15" or not.

MLambert19
12-27-2015, 04:41 PM
Thanks! Unicorn wheels for me, for sure. I always loved the RS8's on Rooster, and while this fitment isn't as epic as those, it's still decent, and in-line with my lightweight-OEM-plus theme.

The tires are 225/50 Kumho 710's. They're brand new, and from what little looking I've done... pretty expensive. Unfortunately, I live on a gravel road now, and don't have plans to Track/AutoX the car... so I will probably be trying to sell them.

Debating on whether I even invest in restoring them at this point, maybe just running them with patina until I eventually respray the car.

What do you do when you're almost 30 years old, have a child and your mom asks you for ideas for Christmas? You take a shot in the dark and send her links for Miata parts.

Polished Project G oil cap and polished Project G dip stick. Boom! thanks Mom lol:P Now just have to wait until spring to install on the car.
