Greetings! I figured I'd start a thread to track my cars progression as I continue to do things to it. I personally, keep a log of things that i have bought and done to the car, but im sure you guys wont want to see maintainence updates so ill just post "mods" in this build thread. I'll try to keep the thread as detailed as possible, so it may turn into a thread full of long words. I'm not much of a picture taking guy but I'll try to capture the moments as much as possible!

The Previous Ride

My previous ride was a 2008 Honda Civic sedan. My parents bought the car for me brand new in 2008 because they wanted me to drive a safe car. At the time, I was checking out 240s, IS300s and eg/ek Civic hatches. The car was boring but good on gas.
I went through many "looks" with the car. In the later stages of the car, it was modded with "wheel fitment" as the main influence but then I began the part-out to fund another car...

Why Miata?
I've always had a soft spot for the roadster. After taking my Civic to the track, I knew that i wanted a car that could turn. I loved the feeling of being underpowered yet passing cars with twice the amount of wheel horsepower that my car had. The satisfaction that it gave me felt great and I knew the Miata was a perfect candidate.

The Hunt Begins
After parting out a few parts from my Civic I was able to come up with a sum of money to fund a Miata. I looked at a few on craigslist and had no luck. For the most part, most of the ones that I came across were already modded or janky. I wanted a cheap car, and i knew that finding a clean NA for "cheap" wasn't going to be easy. None of the cars I checked out were right for me. I was picky because I knew what I wanted. It HAD to be black or white. It HAD to be 5spd. It HAD to have a fairly straight body. It HAD to be clean titled. My search began to grow tiresome and I gave up. Until a friend of friend called me and asked me if i still wanted a Miata...

June 23rd, 2011, I became the owner of the car I present to you guys now. My friend's friend sold me the car for a really good price and I was ecstatic. The car came with the black OEM hardtop, Bilstein struts, Racing Beat springs, 14x7+19 RPF1s, Hawk HPS Pads, Nardi steering wheel and an extra set of rear Ground Controls mounted on KYB Adjustable Struts.

The Plan
Instead of fitment, with this car I want to build something that can hold its own around the track. I want something that looks like it belongs and perform on a track. As I gradually learn more about the car and the market for it I will buy parts for the car accordingly.

Looks good man, but why did you get rid of the rpf1's?! They are so light and XXR's aren't! You effectivly added about 150 pounds of rotational mass!!!! (this is based on about 8 more pounds a wheel and then some for the bigger tire)

getting rid of the rpf1s was definitely not the smartest choice, but at the time the tires were toast and i needed the money so i downgraded. the xxrs are only temporary "idgaf" wheels until i stumble upon a set of cheap 6ULs.

purchased a dmax replica hood vent today. hopefully i will we putting it on this weekend. ;)

i decided to wake up nice an early today since it was the first time in a while that i had a saturday off work. i felt the need to be productive so i headed out to 949racing for their swap meet event. I had heard that people had run into quite a few awesome deals so i figured i try my luck.

browsing through the parts in the back lot i was tempted to buy a good amount of stuff but since i am saving for a rollbar; i had decided before arriving that i would only buy something small just to have something to work on.

I saw a set of APR canards and inquired Emilio about pricing and he said they would be mine for a measly $40.

Went home and after a couple of hours(took a lunch break) and a trip to the hardware store, i now have the canards on.

speaking of the project-g meet; it was my lucky day! Won a set of TSI's and HPS radiator hoses for my car in the Raffle, and also a set of Brainstorm Lo Pros in the silent auction!
Here's a quick cell phone snap while i was working on them today

Also, earlier in the evening, i met up with Henry from Kazespec and purchased a PCI V2 setback seat mount for my bucket seat. hopefully i can find the time to install that soon

hopefully this year i'll be able to find more time and money to work on the car.

I really want a rollbar so i can start taking the car to the track, so hopefully thats next!

Stay tuned for more updates soon!
