ok so i am goin to be starting a few lighting projects on my 94. i will be upgrading the blinkers/parking lights to LED switchbacks with the correct resisitors to eliminate hyper blinking.

now i am goin to change my side markers to LED also. so now i want to do make them have the blinker function as well. i read this

http://www.miata.net/garage/sidemarker_turn_signals.html

so my question is will the LED side markers work with this wiring? i am not sure if the floating ground will work with LED's, i think it will but never tried it.

Thanks but thats for adding winkers. I am doing this to the existing side markers that already have bulbs but i want them to work with blinkers and change them to led. I just want to make sure it will work right before i start cutting the oem wiring up.

I did it successfully in the rear circuit using LED bulbs on my NB. The rear red sidemarkers on the 2001+ USDM NB is just red reflectors but I customized them with LED bulbs instead and they come on with the running lights but also blink on and off alternatively with the turn signal.

When the amber turn bulb blinks on, the red sidemarker goes off and vice versa. The same thing can be wired in the front with the amber stock sidemarkers or aftermarket/JDM fender-mounted blinkers if desired.

Were the turn signals in the tails also led?

Which? Both, my amber turns and red side markers were LED.

Sounds good. Take photos and show us here. Would make a great write up we don't yet have.

I would like to recommend a couple things: use T-tap connectors to splice into your stock wiring. They're far more reliable than those crappy blue ones you have to make sure you get both wires positioned right before you crimp.

T-taps maintain a solid connection whereas the cheap traditional ones have given me troubles. Nothing like replacing LED bulbs and tracing wiring problems only to find out it was the cheapo blue splicer. (I say blue but they come in different colors depending on wire gauge but they all suck equally.)

Here's what they look like but they can be found locally at Autozone et al. http://www.amazon.com/American-Terminal-ETC-B-100-T-Taps-Blue/dp/B001766M30

Here's an unrelated writeup that shows the connectors (DIY dual fan mod) http://mazdaroadster.net/showthread.php?1796-DIY-dual-fan-mod&highlight=Dual&p=61649#post61649

Last, instead of installing load resistors on all four turn bulbs, it would be easier to mod your flasher module itself.

Thanks for the info. Ill look into the flasher module. I was not aware of this mod.
