Yeah, that was really the only reason I was willing to spend almost $400 on it :-O

And then it led to me having this imported which took 4+ months!

Picked up this Mazdaspeed 1.8 header this past weekend. Got it on the super cheap (as in ($112). Are these rare and what do they go for now a days? It's in as good of condition as you can get with a used header. No dents or anything.

not super rare because it is still available, but I have never seen another one in this color combination other than the company photos...

Haha. I wish I could! But it is with my wife in GA, and I am in CA. She will be moving back at the end of may, so I gotta wait a month unless she ships it to me. :,(

I really hope it fits. I have the double hoop roll bar and it comes down between the seats all the way to the floor. I'm not sure if the console is too wide or too tall yet. I really hope not, or else the console or the bar is going to have to go.

I really love the Zoom center console... I've been on the fence on getting one of those, but I don't want to lose the cup holders or the ability to lock the center console either. That piece looks beautiful btw Cx!

"Rare Parts" has always been so subjective to me as everyone has their own definition...I assume we are talking about items that are often not seen, hard to get ahold of, not many people have bought, limited production, or 1-off...

If so, when I get the chance I will gladly post a few of my finds...just don't want it to be out frowned upon if people do not see it the same way...

Phatmiata
07-05-2013, 07:24 PM
everyone is cool here man, there are no flames on this board, post what you want. If the post does not belong most are polite enough here to point you the right way.

now show us what you got!

Few pieces I have, sorry my pictures absolutely suck, and hope they are up to par for the thread...if not, just let me know and I will gladly remove them...

8234

8233

Eunos 5310 Bag that mounts behind the seat, currently filled with a Japan Spec Owners Manual, Original Japan Spec Dealer Brocure, and Japan Spec Optional Parts Catalog...

8232

OEM Road Flair w/ Mounting and Kick Panel from RHD 93 Eunos Clip...currently installs only when out at meets/shows as it sits obviously on the driverside for us and with me being 6'2" and 330lbs it gets in the way rather easily...

8231

Japan Spec Clean Box w/ Mounting Bracket, basically a glorified trash can, very hard to get ahold of and although not a Miata specific part, I absolutely had to have one for it...came as a very limited production piece for the 02/03 BJII...

SNS, I can see a lot of attention has been paid to your interior. I like the Eunos bag, especially with the way you have outfitted it with the Japan Spec documents. That is something I have not seen done before. Any idea what the 5310 represents? I'm curious.

I'm guessing those are Cocomats and Porsche seats, maybe? They may not be "rare" but I certainly wouldn't call them common either.

ScratchNSniff
07-06-2013, 07:25 AM
Correct...Coco Mats, Porsche Seats, Runabout S800 Mirrors, KGWorks Rearview, KGWorks Cluster, KGWorks Starter Panel, Brainstorm Headlights, Runabout Fuel Lid, KGWorks Inner Door Handles (in a box still to install), Mazdaspeed Trap Timer...all items I believe are pretty easy to get ahold of if someone tries a bit or knows where to look...but they are not seen as much...

08-17-2013, 12:31 PM
If you plan on selling them, I don't think you'll pull much for profit. Authentic Mazdaspeed seats aren't that hard to sell if you know where to post and are generally desirable. Profit is not like what you get on Spirit R or RZ seats, as I'm sure you know already. ;)

Thanks. I found the stock BRG interior "to tan" so I mixed it up with '96 door cards because I love the map pockets & speaker grills too! The Nardi is one of my favorite mods... it just feels roadster.

I also have a set of the "WIZ Performance" pedals, and metal foot rest, which stopped being made back in the early 90's.

You should do what I did. Rip off the pads, get some flat black vinyl and spray them. Mine came out perfectly. You wouldn't ever guess they were tan.

Not miata related but I just found myself the coolest freakin thing. A NOS Be-1 clock (not actually a cluster), which I believe was sold originally by Nissan. I adore the Be-1, so this is going in the house, probably the garage when I get a place with one.

I used to have a gated shifter in my old Miata! man that thing was noisy! It's amazing how much transmission gear noise is muffled by the stock insulation and shifter boots.

Cermivelli

I actually don't mind it that much. I heard a lot of people complain about that, but I quite like the part. Gives it a more mechanical feel to the actual shifting.

M2-1002 Steering Wheel

Got this from a car that Garage Hundred One was parting out. Used it for a spell, sold it to Adam, then he sold it back to me because I had M2 withdrawals.

Do you remember the brand new FD leather seats that were for sale in Miami Craigslist? They are mine and I got them very cheap as I trade them for my factory NB02 seats. Presently I am fabricating the brackets to fit on my car, so no pictures yet until they are ready.

"(of a thing) not found in large numbers and consequently of interest or value."

General rule of thumb is that the part should be out of production or not readily available, but this isn't always the case. Location may play a role, as an item may be somewhat common overseas, but a person could argue there are only three here. OEM JDM parts generally wouldn't be considered rare unless they were an infrequently purchased option or low volume, such as M2 parts.

I came across something special months ago at the local Miata shop ('Cabriohoeve') which is only a 5 mile drive from my home. It is an original MX5 spoiler by Mazda, it was a dealer option in Europe. It's not pretty if you ask me, maybe that's why this is the only one I've ever seen, apart from the Mazda Finish Line folder I got my hands on a few weeks ago aswell.

Part. no: NA 10 V4 920 F

I don't really like it but I got if for free swapping my own stock bootlid for this one. Since mine had 130k miles of wear, this bootlid/spoiler came off a sub 20k mile car so I figured to just go through with it. Replacing it with a ducktail bootlid soon anyways. :P

I was looking for a horn button that would fit my retro theme I've got going on with my car and found the one pictured below that fits the bill perfectly. Apparently, it's rare but I'm not entirely sure it is. I'm wondering if any of you may be able to share some information about it. I do know that is evidently came from Japan, but what I would like to know is if it was indeed made by Mazda, what vehicle(s) it was found in, what time period it came from, and is it actually 'rare'.

Thanks in advance for any knowledge you may have.

I purchased a similar one like that from Japan 10+ years ago, however I have no idea if it was an aftermarket item or if in fact it came off a factory car. My guess is aftermarket though.

If you want the original one from the 1989 NA6 and 1gen RX7 it looks like this.

D-Technique M2-1001 front bumper. Believed to be 1 of 1 in the USA, 1 of 2 in North America. Different than the GHO replica in that it uses the OEM upper urethane bumper portion and the fiberglass lower portion bolts on. As such, it is the most accurate replica of the original M2-1001 bumpers.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/479/20130981698_2e7922ec4e_b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/wEUxvm)

Cibie Visage III fog lamps brand new in box. The M2-1001 originally used Cibie Visage II fog lamps, which take the odd H2 halogen bulb that is getting harder to come by. The Visage III are identical in every way but use the much more common H3 halogen bulb, which is also easier to retrofit to HID/LED if so desired. These are very similar to Cibie Tangos, which were available in both fog and spot light (driving) lens configurations and both black and chrome housings. I think the only difference between the Tango and Visage is probably marketing (Japanese vs. Europe) and certification (JIS vs. "E" mark).

Custom toggle switch panel with 1DIN radio cutout. It was made in Japan sometime in the late 1990s or early 2000s and uses the same toggle switches as the Nielex retro hazard/popup switches and the same bulb covers for the switch position indicator lights as the KG Works independent look gauge clusters. I don't know who made it but I assume it is a custom one-off piece made by an enthusiast and was not an official product made by either Nielex or KG Works. But who knows?

I've had my share of Nielex, KG works, RS Aizawa, Mazdaspeed, etc. bits, but I've gotten away from the JDM and rare stuff because its so damn pricey, but I can appreciate it, I just get what I like. The rarest bit of parts I've ever gotten my hands on are the Motorola Cup Cams, and they freaking rock!

These days I focus more on figuring out what I can remove without sacrificing reliability or comfort..

Looking for some thoughts on how to assess the authenticity of this M2 bumper I found on YJ... http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/x453671260/lang/en?rc=yaucc

Guessing Freedomgli or roadsternut might know the answer .. perhaps there are others here. vote4pedro reminded me that there were two companies that made the ˝ bumpers after market supposedly from the original M2 mold: D-Technique and Roadster Club of Japan used to sell them.

Beyond the shipping premium (since I doubt the hotel would hold on to a packaging this sized until Sept :P) lights would likely be "fun" to procure unless I could coax Phat to share out some of his stash

And a GHO?

freedomgli
07-23-2016, 06:30 AM
I don't know for sure. They're made of fiberglass and as such there may be slight variation from one to another simply based on who did the half-bumper installation. I suspect mine is D-Technique because I believed they were the only ones who made aftermarket copies of the original M2-1001 half-bumper but there are no labels on mine embedded into the glass so it's really anyone's guess. I'm pretty sure RCOJ just sold the D-Technique ones when they were still readily available new. Because D-Tech has mostly wound down their aftermarket Roadster parts business I believe they're now special order primarily for Club M2 guys.

freedomgli
07-23-2016, 06:33 AM
GHO = full fiberglass bumper (1-piece)

Original M2 and D-Tech copy = fiberglass half-bumper

Not sure about the belloff but the RS-Active lights are very similar in design, maybe you can get the PIAA Lights and swap them out, they were very popular with trucks and jeeps in the USA, and also in Japan. I found a brand new old stock set mint in box last year.

But this may be your lucky day. There is a used set for sale on Yahoo.JP item #d192946234. That is the cheapest I have seen them lately. I use Buyee.JP for small and delicate items such as these lights as they have a special wrapping service to guarantee safe delivery.

Good luck on your project. By the way do you have the complete parts for your Bellof? I may need your help.
