Not very good on keeping the website up to date while I was dealing with a bunch of "stuff", but most all of the "stuff" is behind me, so I'll try to get it updated. Several things not yet listed. There's a local doing a Forced Inducted Run, I'm looking for a spot for those wanting to pop the hoods and show them off a bit. Someone is putting together a TSD rally for those into that. Some other stuff in the works I can't remember right now.

1. Ciotti will have to answer this one...
2. 30 mph
3. Only seen one, EVER - and it was working traffic while a tow truck was a extricating a 911 over the side. I run the road often.

The speed limit on "The Snake" is the same as on "The Dragon". About 1/1000th the LEO presence. There's now a photographer on the road, so you can get good pics of your car if you're into that.

94 1.8 had 70,000 miles on it and its replacing my 207,00 mile motor. I figured they are so close in years that it will be the easiest of swaps since I have no clue what I am doing. Really all I am doing now is stock piling parts in my storage building lol I have most everything I need. I added a few things like new exhaust and lightweight flywheel and stage 1 clutch to my list so my cost of parties exced the amount of money I have so I am buying one thing at a time.

The host location (Highland Hills) filled up the same day we announced the 2013 date. The people and the place are great, but MiB might be outgrowing it as the "primary" site. We are looking at a couple venues outside of town, and the place receiving the most posive feedback is the Smoketree Lodge (http://www.smoketree-lodge.com/).

The Smoketree is just nine miles from Highland Hills, and has better amenities. This may be the future home of MiB, and could easily be made a hub for some of this year's activities. Google Map. (http://goo.gl/maps/FZKYD)

I've contacted the General Manager, and they have 20 rooms currently available for the MiB weekend. Several cars are already based there this year. Check out the website (http://www.smoketree-lodge.com/) - Some of you may wish to cancel reservations elsewhere and move.

WEEKDAY AND WEEKEND
Studio $75.00
Large Studio $80.00
One Bedroom $95.00
Two Bedroom $105.00

Markus and Josh are finally trying to make MATG into something beside a place for the blue-hairs to get another hat pin. I wish them luck with that. We've always tried to make MiB something more for the performance minded, rather than the "convertible" minded.

My brother and I will probably be going. Today I'm doing all the stuff to motor that can be done while motor is out of the car. I still have a couple of more things that needs to be purchased . If all goes well the Miata should be ready to make the trip. I can't be a passenger on this trip because I'm to tall to ride in Miata damn passenger sides of these cars were made for midgets.

That's exactly what I did last year and it was the right choice, most of the main guys have been to Miatas at the Gap many times and they prefer MiB, no cops, tighter group, and a better variety of roads.

US 58 is a fantastic road. One of the few roads you run as long as you want, and you are almost relieved when it's over. A great mix of twisties and sweepers, and almost always deserted. Map: http://goo.gl/maps/SP1W8

Kodak Play Sport and a Go Pro, that's just one tiny section of one run... Here are 7 more videos of a bunch of the other runs, I didn't get video of probably 6 or 7 other runs. Total seat time pushing as hard as you dare for the event is probably 20+ hours, most fun I've had in my 32 years on this planet by-far!

I'm pretty stoked for this year. Last year I was on a tired stock 1.6 drivetrain. This year, 1.8 VVT in the car, putting down an additional 50 whp, and a Torsen in back. The car is transformed. Hopefully, next year will see another power bump, and an upgrade from the FM suspension to Xida or FCM.

So, anyone who decided not to go because of the weather made an error. Saturday was the only wet day, and that was only a few hours. Mostly, my friends and I just spent that time having lunch.) Thursday, Friday and Sunday were perfect.

I had the time of my year. Some really nice (and fast) cars. Great people. Good food. Plenty, and I mean PLENTY of liquor and beer in the evenings.

I went on the Ohlins run, Thursday. Friday I did the "Invitational" in the morning, then the "Big Tour" in the afternoon. Saturday I did "Black Ops" and the Sims BBQ run. Sunday I stayed all day and did the entire "Blind Kenny" run.

Ohlins = Shulls Mill Road, 221, 181, 126/Lake James Road, Bat Cave Road - and Ohlins USA tour.
Invitational = 194, 19E, Hanging Rock Road, NC 80 (North of Burnsville).
Big Tour = NC 88, Old NC 16, VA 58, 421 "The Snake".
Black Ops = Georges Gap Road, Beaver Dam Road, US 421 "The Snake".
Sims = Fall Creek/Parsonville Road, Champion Road, NC 268.
Blind Kenny = Shulls Mills Road, 221, Crabtree Road, NC 226A "Diamondback", and NC 80 The Devil's Whip"

We ran a few of these roads more than once, and stopped for breakfast, lunch, etc. The parking lots at the motels and everywhere we stopped looked like a car show. Canyons sounded like race tracks. A few of us swapped cars with several others. Pretty good time.

There are groups for any speed you want to go, I hang with the fast group which is around 20 of us with lots of motorsports background and some ridiculous cars (400 horsepower NC, 300+ horse NB's, etc...). This run was a warmup of sorts, I was pushing a bit but nowhere near what you'll see in a few of the videos coming up :)

To give you guys an idea of how special this event and the people who attend it are, I wrote this when I got home for the main thread over on Miata.net...

Saturday night and Sunday morning I held it together when Kristin and I said our goodbye's to everyone since we were taking a day trip to Folly Beach and Charleston that day. The problem came when we were packing up our things in the room and I heard the sounds of the group leaving the parking lot for the Blind Kenny Run. The exhaust notes of Miatas pulling out onto 105 was something that I wouldn't be hearing again for another 12 months and my vision became extremely blurry for a bit.

It's so difficult to put into words what this event and the friendships mean to us, but I'll say this... It has changed the path of my and Kristin's life for the better which has led to a decision that next year we'll only be driving 4 hours to get to Boone vs the current 10+.

After the first MiB we went to last year, for the next 12 months we talked on and off about wanting to move South to be closer but it was never a serious conversation. During our day trip in Charleston and Folly Beach we realized that it was where we wanted (and frankly needed) to be in life for the sake of our happiness. We need to be closer to the MiB family, the beach, the mountain roads, the laid back culture, etc...

It was decided, we're moving to South Carolina dammit!

On the 10 hour ride home we tried to poke holes in the plan to make sure we were looking at both sides of the decision.
For me there were really only 2 reasons for me to stay in NJ, my family and my autocross region. When I moved an hour south of my parents 10 years ago after graduating college, I quickly found and became extremely involved with South Jersey Region SCCA. That group quickly became my surrogate family down here in South Jersey that I would see all the time, hang out with, and rely on if I needed anything.

When I think of leaving NJ, the feeling of leaving that group and my parents is the same because to me they are both truly my family.

Fortunately I met Kristin, the love of my life 8 years ago so I'm bringing family with me during the move.

And fortunately I had a new family welcome me with open arms 1 year ago that has stuck with me ever since and made it clear this year that they've been waiting for me to come home ever since.

Here we come :)
