Startup of the world's first K series Miata. TSX motor (k24a2) with adapter plate to Miata trans, and an intake manifold adapter plate to run an S2000 manifold. Lots more to come for this car...

This is a pretty ingenious swap, one of my local friends is trying to do a K20a2 into his 99 Miata. There are a lot of performance upgrades for these motors, and 200hp on a stock motor is pretty nuts for a Miata to have! Just imagine this setup with a turbo! :blaugh2:

Oh my god, those TSX motors are NASTY, more torques than the K20's but the same horsie powers... amazing swap!

Wouldn't an S2000 engine be a better deal?

I used to daily a Honda Element which has the same motor in it. The Element was surprisingly quick for a big huge ugly thing.

A buddy of mine drives a TSX and it can get up and go. That fact it's a manual only adds to it's cool factor.

I hate hondas.. I do. I'm prejudice.

So it hurts me to even say this. But a 220hp stripped EG ruined me in my FD a few months back.

So now I hate them even more

I'm definitely up for this swap. My Miata has 200k on the stock 1.6, and it's definitely on the way out. I could care less about the Honda stigma, I'm just interested in making 200hp+ easily and reliably. Time to start saving my pennies :D

Etikoner, that gif. I honestly laughed out loud.

Hard to argue with the performance of a built B18. It takes retarded amounts of money to make a B6 or BP achieve stock B18 power levels.

If you think B-series performance capabilities are impressive, K-series blows it out of the water in everyway.

Cool! Wouldn't be my first choice for a motor swap, but still really cool!

That would be a good idea if you wanted to drive in backwards a 100mph, or have to swap out the entire drivetrain... all Honda motors before K-series spin backwards compared to everyother motor in the world... LOL... they do make sick power tho...

I can count how many f20 miatas there are in one hand.
They don't go backwards ;)

F20c is a good engine to throw on and keep stock.
K24 is the better one to throw in if you want even bigger power n torque.

Yeah.
Honda's heads flow more air stock that a heavily ported miata head would achieve lol. It's ridicules.
Honda engines are really something else. That's why I wish Mazda actually did more R&D after the initial 1.6 engine. 116hp out of a 1.6 in 1989 = semi good performance.
130 hp out of a 1.8 in 1995 = even shitty Honda SOHC engines could deliver that.

I can't wait to see what they did about power steering rack location , geometry with this swap.

Even then it wouldn't really be a good idea. The K-series is a step above the F20/22C in almost every way. At 240 bhp OEM, the F-series is pretty highly optimized, the K-series has higher limits.

I hear this car is getting some crazy parts, engine-swap aside lol.

I drive a POS SOHC Honda Concerto (European version of the Civic). It has been beaten to death, stumbles on occasion and still makes more power than my 1.6 XD

There has to be some kind of upgrade for the Miata, does the 2.0L Escort engine swap in?

lots of room for a turbo/mani ... nice that it's away from the master cylinder. subscribed

Ive been seeing your progress and this is a great idea! Glad to see someone actually making swaps like this happen...
Your swap gave me an idea as well..

Since you're planning on making this a complete kit in the future I was wondering if you would be willing to sell just the flywheel and trans adapter as a kit..

That would be great for the fwd mazdas (323 Protege Mx3 Escort GT)...All mazda B series use the same bell housing and seeing as 3 of the 4 mounts on those cars are attached to the trans, only the post mount on the pass side of the car would need to be fabricated and an adapter plate to bolt the fwd BP half shaft to the K block.. hell it could even work on mazdaspeed proteges if using a BP g series trans.

just a thought that could open ur market a bit wider
