Plasti-Dip is some good stuff. It's cheap, easy to apply and, completely removable. I decided to plastidip my TRM C1 wheels this week. I've always liked the way these wheels looked in black so I thought I'd try it out for a while. If I ever decide I don't like the way they look I can peel the dip off.

I sprayed my wheels while they were off the car.

Step 1 is to clean your wheels really well. Get all the dust and dirt off but don't use a cleaner that leaves a residue. I like to use Comet but be careful, you can scratch some surfaces with this stuff. Use whatever you want. Just make sure there's a bare, clean, dry surface before you start spraying.

Once you get your wheels clean, mask the tires. This is optional but I highly recommend it. It takes less time to shove some index cards in the bead than it does to peel over-spray off the tires. Another good Idea is to lay some lugnuts on the holes to keep the tapered surface clean.

Apply several (3-5) thin coats. Plasti-dip has to be put on in coats in order to make it thick enough to be peeled off easily. If you do one thick coat it will run.

Pro tip: Before applying a coat, spray a couple test strokes on the ground or where ever to make sure the nozzle isn't clogged. If the nozzle is clogged it might spit big droplets and you will have to start over.

After 4 coats and a few hours to dry they look pretty good.
