Post photos of your stripped interior, may it be a DD or a Track only car.

Here's a few from when I semi-stripped the interior... I used a spray-on "temp reducing/sound deadening" product from PepBoys which actually worked pretty well. I've since reinstalled the rear deck carpet and center console. My car is my daily driver btw.

Morr, how much louder was it inside the car? Bearable? I'm thinking of partially stripping the interior on my NB and repainting it grey (or twilight blue if it's not too dark), similar to what mighty_mouse did, just probably not quite as clean because his is way more awesome than mine could be lol:

Also, in the summer how much hotter would you say it gets, and in the winter is it really much colder?

I think this is all the photos I have of Kendall's interior.

Poor pic of mine, still a work in progress. It does get hotter, but mine is also black.

Modern, ask Kendall how he removed the studs for the rain rail.

My interior doesn't get hot, at all. I can palm my transmission tunnel after 30 minutes of driving. And I have no heat-shields, full stainless header-back exhaust.

Really need to get around to painting it...Legit Bride Vios III seat arrives on Tuesday, also have Schroth 6pt harness. So no shit-talking about the seat please lol.

All that's in the trunk is the battery and fuel-door release:

Also "stripped" the engine bay of everything unnecessary (a/c, p/s, EGR, charcoal can, washers/wipers, coolant overflow. VVT head + ITB swap is in progress.

And the exterior is probably going to make some people say "WHOA WTF THE INSIDE LOOKS LIKE ASS AND THE OUTSIDE LOOKS AWESOME!"

The car weighs under 2,000 lbs with a full tank, without the hardtop and side windows.

I believe he just ground them off flush. FWIW, much of the interior has been touched up with putty before it was painted.

It's a bit louder but I have a slightly loud catback to begin with. You can definitely hear every little pebble that makes its way into the wheel wells though haha. I love it though, as I prefer the more 'raw' feeling it has. I never notice any drastic temperature changes, except in summer. That's another whole issue though with my radiator. So under normal conditions, it shouldn't be bad. I still don't get how Fitftw says his tranny tunnel doesn't get hot though. I also have no heatshield, only a catback, and it would get super hot after highway driving.

Finally stripped mine. It still needs to be cleaned up quite a bit. I just had a couple hours yesterday to do it before it got dark.

When pulling the carpet, did everyone else have to cut it up under the dash to get it all out?

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt194/paulsulja/Chicken/IMG_4589.jpg

It is a decent amount louder but I like it because I can finally hear my exhaust and it does feel much more raw. I do have heat rushing in by the shifter because my shift boot is torn, but after that the heat shouldn't be too bad on the inside.

Next are the door panels, radio, and then I'll see what else to do. Almost ordered a seat yesterday but decided against it for now. Need to spend money on other things.

Just how bad is the temp increase? I live in southern california so the heat increase on top of 100+ degree summers is putting me off since my car is a DD. I'll definitely be using some of that temp/sound reducing liner but I know there will still be quite a bit of heat coming through.
Also, has anyone had a problem of their center console melting? If the trans tunnel really gets that hot I'm a little curious as to if its happened lol

Are you going to ditch the softtop as well since you have a hardtop? That's another 35-40lbs. you can trim.

I've wondered about this too. I've never tried to take the carpet out.

You either have to cut the carpet, or remove the HVAC stack. I've tried to just remove the lower HVAC screws and pry it up enough - but that didn't work. I cut my old carpet to get it out, but removed the HVAC stack enough to put the new carpet in when I did the tan-to-black interior swap.

I just pulled it hard enough, and the trim clip snapped off

With heat like that, as a daily I wouldn't do it. Unless you have A/C? I don't have A/C, today the temps hit 100F, I was extremely uncomfortable, more so than when the temps reached that with the interior in. It doesn't help that my shift boot is torn letting in hot air, but still, that wouldn't have mattered today.

I'm still not sure if I'll be keeping the interior stripped or not; I'll have to drive it for a few more weeks like this to really decide. I've stopped using the radio to see if I can get used to not having audio before pulling the headunit and speakers as well. But while it is still my daily I might put the interior back in and go stripped when I have the other car on the road to drive on really hot days like today or longer trips.

Although I do love the raw feeling of the stripped interior, that's what makes me want to really keep it like that.

For the carpet, I wasn't sure about lifting the HVAC stack, so i reached in with a knife and tried to cut as much in the middle as I could. But then when I got farther back I couldn't reach much so tried to cut it on the passenger side, still out of sight if the carpet does go back in. Unfortunately it ripped a little closer to the footwell but hopefully that won't be noticeable. I'll have to take a second look at it.

Sweet thread played around with this idea in my head a few times but not too sure if it would be a good idea for dd especially since my car is black
