Heat Sensitive Paint Will Be The Next Big Thing In Modding

If you’ve fallen down the slippery slope of car modifying, the chances are high you’ve promised yourself and your loved one that there’s only one more thing to do to your ride to make it perfect. You are, of course, lying. There are hundreds of stupid things you want to add, but this fascinating paint modification is something you’ll now realize your car needs.

From a small company in Yorkshire (that’s ‘oop north’ to us Londoners) comes this heat sensitive paint work, which transforms a car’s exterior with a drop of rain.

We spoke to AutoKandy owner Darrel Poole who explained that the effect can be used with any colour. When a base layer is chosen (for his Skyline demo car, Darrel chose orange), a layer of black thermal paint is added. In warmer climes (18 degrees and up), the paint stays orange, but when the heat decreases (as you’ll see with the cold water), the colour changes to black instantly; which could be handy if you’re trying to evade an ex. Or the cops…

It’s a perfectly simple idea, but one that’s never been seen before on a whole car. It’s so impressive, in fact, that Darrel’s received calls and emails from West Coast Customs and the Caterham F1 team who have expressed an interest in the product. Not bad for a company that was started just last year…

Watch the video, and let us know what you think of it.

there is another interesting movie related to that link which I am posting here. I imagine thieves will love to use this technology to confuse the cops. Change the car to red, steal a bank, drive around the corner and change the car color to blue. The cops will never figure out, how to get the thieves, AMAZING!!!

Thieves won't waste money on that paint, they will just steal someones car for the day.

Use it on brake calipers so when cold, they are black, but when hot, they are red. WIN!

Yeah, it reminds me of Hot Wheels Color Racers from the 80s.

Brake calipers from White/Silver/Black (cool) to Yellow/Red (hot) would be awesome!
