I am thinking about buying the rare Mariner Blue Mazda Miata, 1991. Are parts readily available for the car if I need parts? It is a 22 year old car and I am concerned about the parts availability for that year of a car. Thank you for your reply.

Very much so readily available.
I can get pretty much whatever I need from my local autoparts store, forums, or Miata specific websites. If the only thing your worrying about with the 91 is parts availability buy it quick.

As the owner of a 91 smurf I can say for sure.
You can still get most of the car components OEM as well as a ton of aftermarket goodies.

Thanks for the reply.

Hopefully he still has it for sale as I am looking at it tomorrow in the morning. It has 100k and it is stock except for some aftermarket alloy wheels and a strut bar in the engine. It looks good in the pictures with no body damage. The paint is not faded or anything and the interior looks good. 100k miles is not to bad for that year of a car.

If I do get it and I hope I will, I guess I will polish it up a bit with wax and plastic dip the wheels black.

I am quite excited in getting it. Never felt that way about purchasing a car like that before.

Good luck! You're getting yourself into an awesome community. And you will absolutely love the car.

I've never had issues finding parts for my '91, other than the tombstone radio surround, but those are readily available now too.

Where are you located? Do your roads get salted for the winter, + Few people regularly clean out the drain holes, hence the prevalence of rust in the rockers.. Make sure you check the rocker panels for rust, just look the Roadster over good!!!

Just in case you weren't kidding, you should know that mariner blue is not considered to be "rare." There were over 13,000 sold in the USA. However, the color has become highly desirable and it has become more difficult to find a smurf in decent condition since the last model year to sport the color was 1993.

Yea, there are a tonne of Mariner's out there. Just look at some of the build threads, a lot of them are Mariner's

Yea, that got posted 2 hours after I sent payment for a used surround which I paid $10 more because they were so hard to find. Needless to say, I was pretty upset.

It did not work out on the Mariner Blue Miata. The pictures looked a lot better and there was some issues with the seller.

But there is good news. I located a red 1990 Mazda Miata with very low miles today but it is about 400 miles away. I will make the trip on Monday hopefully if they still have the car for sale. You know it is a good deal since no one in their right mind would travel 400 miles one way to look at a car (800 miles round trip).:)

There is good news. I just bought a 96 Montego Blue Mazda Miata with only 81k on the odometer for only $2635.00 today. :)

Here is the picture of my 96 Mazda Miata. It has now 82k on the odometer. It is all stock except I put the Miata M edition wheels on it a couple of days ago. I got the wheels for only $100 and the mounting and balancing came out to only $60 so I did not pay to much for the wheels.

That is a nice looking one. I wish mine only had that many miles on it lol.
