Don't you hate Butt Splices and Vampire Connectors!

Almost all of the Miata's I have looked at recently have either had the nasty Vampire Connectors, Butt Splices or Stacon Quick Connects. Most of these did not make good connection and I could pull them apart!

I have used a product for years in my controls company that resolves all of this mess.

These are called Lever Nuts. They are simple, quick to use, make extremely good electrical connection and are good for wire from 28 to 12 AWG. One set of Lever Nuts can replace a full kit of Butt splices and Sta-con Fittings.

So how do you use them?

When you are going to break into a power or sensor wire for instance.

1. Cut the wire leaving plenty of run to work with the wire.
2. Strip both ends of the wire back about 9mm, exposing the bare wire.
3. Lift the levers up on the Lever Nut.
4. Insert the wires into the lever nut, each one in its respective hole.

5. Flip the levers down.

6. Then strip the wire back, you wish to splice into the circuit, and put it in the last hole
