Hello gentleman
I am writing from Boston, MA
It's been getting colder every day here
And my Miata clearly dislikes that.
I drive a 96 Montego Blue roadster which never gave me problem, until the temperature outside started to drop under 35 degrees F.
So when I start up the car, it stays at 2k rpms. However even when it warms up (according to the temp gauge) it still stays at around 2k
Then, when I touch the brake pedal rpm needle jumps up and down from 2k to 1500 and back to 2k then back to 1500 until I let the brake pedal go
Once I let the pedal go it just stays at 2k. (only when temperature is below 35).
This keeps happening even 20 minutes after startup
Now to Hypothesis:
I have a bigger Mishimoto radiator installed
Can it be that Miata simply doesn't get warm enough, because massive aftermarket radiator gets a lot of cold air in the cold weather or???
I eliminated Idling control valve, since on the warmer days I have no idle problems.
Will a piece of cardboard covering miata's mouth fix this?
