One of the greatest Japanese sportscars in Le Mans history was the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, the triple rotor Mazda 787B. Campaigned during the peak of the Group C era against the might of Porsche, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz the Mazda wasn't the fastest, but it was super-reliable. Weighing just 830kg and with up to 900bhp on tap, it was also somewhat of a weapon. The car was rebuilt two years ago ahead of a return lap of the French circuit at the hands of 1991 race winner Johnny Herbert.

Take a look at the video, and turn UP the volume!

That sounds so good, I can only imagine the rpm those rotors are turning!

It sounds like a V10 F1 car as it comes down the front straight. That had to have been ungodly loud.

That sound! The downshift for the Playstation chicane sounded so cool. Best LeMans prototype ever.
