Show us your early Roadsters, lets see who has the single hole core supports and the reversed wiper motors. Post pics.
These are the Roadsters that some collectors (or people like me) are starting to search for, I have two...............

Core Support with single circular hole:

are you talking about the front support? I know that on the later cars with ABS they moved the wiper fluid tank to the right side hole. So what is the wiper motor difference, I cannot see what you are talking about in the pics?

On the early cars the wiper motor faces the engine, on the later models the motor faces the passenger fender....

Here is an early 90 Miata, notice the wiper motor (facing the engine) and the front core on the driver side (no hole).

Why would this matter at all, and why would it be desireable? In other words, why would the wiper motor add value to the car at all? I'm not trying to be negative, but I find this very insignificant in adding value to a Miata. I would imagine that an LE, BRG, or yellow would be more collectible than the positioning of a wiper motor.

I did not say anything about being more valuable than any limited production models, these above mentioned Miata's were the first to roll off the assembly line.

Because people get bored and look at cars a lot, then find small variations and want it.

Also this would probably only apply to VERY low mileage cars in pristine condition.

Maybe "The Driver" or "Medition" can weigh in on the collector market?

That's right... on my BRG, I am going to turn my wiper around and weld in a patch over my driver's hole (that doesn't sound right). It's gonna be super duper rare & desirable.

My BRG had the front clip replaced, and there is no hole on the driver's side. Never paid any attention to it until this came up.

Mines 5152 , not sure about the core support hole because it's covered with a Garage Star plate, reversed wiper motor. What year did ABS kick in? I'm pretty sure my 91 doesn't have ABS.

My 91 is #8332 and it has the wiper motor facing the fender and the extra core support hole.

atank
01-11-2014, 11:45 AM
The first year ABS was available as an option (in a package) was 1991. It was never standard equipment, only as a separate option or as part of a package from 91 through 05.

My '90 has the wiper motor facing the engine and a single hole rad support. The vin is 118694. It also has 296,000kms on it so it's no show car just a good driver.

I am surpirsed that if you guys care that much about the wiper motor and core support, you also don't care about the lack of trunk release or the slightly different gauge cluster.

Yes, early models..........your buddies could have a build sheet under the carpet, usually on the drivers side, plus other goodies
kinda like easter eggs, that the later models don't have, Golden!!!! I have found build sheets on Miatas up to 1992.
