I've seen some pics of BBS RS with Big Brake Kits but no lead as what the offset are. Also most I've seen are not on our cars. Does anyone have any lead as to what would be the minimum offset required to fit a BBK (wilwood) on a 2 pc. BBS RS on a miata? Thanks in advance.

basic rule is that most wheels with fly spokes or design will probably have issues with clearance. What size whees are you planning to get?

BBS RS is basket weave is it? Well as size I'm looking 15x7 or 15x8 with offset +34 - 0 that I have seen. Actually the width (different lip depths are available easily) is is not much my concern it is the offset so I can fit my BBK.

Is this called "Fly" spokes? thanks

Why not lay a carpenters square in there with another parallel edge and measure it?

oops I meant to say flat spokes, I am sorry.

go to to www.flyinmiata.com (http://www.flyinmiata.com), under brakes or big brake kits they have a template for wildwood calipers for all year miatas

Thanks. I have the template of the Wilwood and the BBK it self. The problem is that how do I measure the template against the BBS rim without having the rim in front of me. The BBS I'm looking at is coast across from me :-(

just curious, but which BBS RS wheel did you buy? In my first miata I used to have their single piece BBS RS wheel. It was pretty cool, they looked like 6UL wheel. Do you have a pic of them?

I did not buy them yet as I have to know if my Wilwood BBK would fit. They are the regular 3 pc. BBS RS 15x8 +25. They are flat spokes that is why I am concerned. But I have seen VW's sporting them with BBK so I'm convinced that with the right offset it can also be done in our miata.

You need to measure the distance from the rotor hat to the furthest point on the face of the caliper. You also need to measure the radius from the center of the hub to furthest point of the caliper's edge. Not rocket science. You also need the wheel's back spacing.

Thanks. I got the first two measurements but the seller has no idea of the back spacing. Would the back spacing be stamped at the back of the rim? The offset is +25 mm, this is not the back spacing is it?

They're 3 piece. The offset can be altered by changing the barrel and/or hoop.
They are numbered too. so you can know what they fit and the spec. (unless they have been altered)

You do see the image I posted above, yes? Back space=rear space. Seller needs to measure that. A caliper, a ruler and a piece of cardboard, a combination of such. A seller that doesn't have that info or know how to measure it isn't worth buying from.

Forgot to add, you should also do measurements of your own to know how much room you have from the hat to the fender, fender lip, and the proper backspace. Those 3 piece wheels are swapped around with different barrels and lips all the time now, so what the offset reads is only part of it. You also need to know the inner barrel shape and measurements so you can be certain it will clear the perimeter of the larger calipers.

To make something look nice and custom, you gotta do some work on your end, otherwise you are throwing a sizeable chunk of money around for something that may not fit.

You can also try using wheel spacers so that the brake calipers would clear the wheels

Thank guys. Too much risk for this one then as the seller seems to not know a thing and won't cooperate.
