I didn't care for the way the stock mahogany handle and knob, although Nardi, had different tone than the new Nardi wheel, so I laminated padauk and ebony, turned them on a lathe, and made my own replacements. The side brake has proper finger indents, caps the top properly, and is attached with some set screws I tapped into the stock rear cap. The knob is mounted on what was a 200g brass weight, which I also machined on the lathe--with no metal chucks, as I'd never worked metal before. I then drilled and tapped it to m10x1.25, milled the wood stock to mount, and turned it. Both are finished in ten coats of urethane, no dye or stains. The padauk should oxidize to a brown that very closely matches the wheel, unless the urethane prevents that--I've always used oils and waxes, so this finish is a new one to me.

I have a full NB2 custom interior being made by Nakamae-san, but it will take several months to finish, so I went ahead and installed these first.

Usually not a fan of wood, but that looks really, really good. Also, sweet cluster. Actually, sweet interior in general; very balanced.

Nice work! I like the color, and black accent on both pieces. It picks up cues from the Nardi wheel nicely.
