OK folks...some of you may know about the Open Autox that LRP does all year...and the Nutmeg club, along with a few Mass Miata folks, did this last year, and had a freakin' ball!! so once again, the Nutmeg Club will be doing this. Last year we opened it up on a limited basis, to people outside the club. this year we will be having 40 cars/driver instead of 30...reason for this is because with the Saturday date, we have to take the Skidpad too..added cost, additional driving venue. Gives us some spread out room with more cars on the course at one time in separate locations...and BTW, they will wet the skidpad too!!

OK folks..this event is now officially opened to anyone with a Miata...from anywhere as long as you can get there on time and can spend the whole day having an absolute BALL...

This day will include BOTH autocross loops...and the skidpad...which will be watered down at some point. Late afternoon will have both autoX loops joined together to form a .44 mile mini-road course..complete with elevation change.

PAYMENT IS YOUR RSVP...once payment is received, your name will be added to our entry list...which can be found here

http://www.nutmegmiatainc.org/forum/...hp?f=15&t=1511

Your payment reserves your entry spot. Entry fee is $125 and we are limited to 40 cars

Checks can be sent to:
NUTMEG MIATA CLUB
21 Kane Ave
Stamford, CT 06905

Payment may also be made via Paypal...IF IT IS SENT AS A GIFT/FRIENDS & FAMILY

last year we started with 25 cars, and struggled to get that filled, then as the time got closer, we had to turn away folks, even after we added 5 additional spots. so watch this thread

Another thing that is great about this event..no helmet required..no rollbar required..this is run up in the infield autoX course, They hand time on the lower course and at the end of the year, the top 20 times get invited for a Shootout. 2 cars from our event last year were in the shootout...no classes..no silly SCCA rules...run what ya brung...

I will be handing out some awards...to be determined later...

some of our Nutmeg clubmembers have added friends and family not in Miatas...definitely already have a Toyota MR Spider turbo (was in the year end shootout last year)..and a Porche 914

and here is another tidbit...MassMiata is doing a date also...and a little bird tweeted in my ear that it is tenatively scheduled for Aug 16...also a Saturday...same pricing structure...just throwing that out there for the hard core folks...

OK...one of the fast guys has posted some video

the first is his 3 lap timed run...one note..you will note the lack of pylons on the course...this is what makes this event so cool...during the morning practice runs, there were a few 'helper' pylons to get you around the course using the proper turn in points and corner apex point...well, they took those away for the timed run and only left the back straight chicane as the only true gate you had to negotiate, but if you hit a pylon there, that lap and any subsequent laps did not count...so you were pretty well toasted if you hit one on your first lap...

And BTW..this is a turbo 91 Miata..somewhere north of 220rwhp..driven by Quinn

Second video is practice on the upper course

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQzN6-AbuJA

And the third is the combinatioin of the two...by placing a few pylons LRP ends up with a .44 mile mini road course for us to play on

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFzLyeK32ws

During these various runs, they would lets us stay out for 5 or 6 minutes at a time...or longer..so you can get into a rhythm..when running the combined course, there were 4 or 5 cars out there at the same time...no passing allowed if you ran up on someone, but there is a spot on the upper where you can pull over to let a faster car by safely

this is a super fun event and anyone of any ability can go out and just drive to the best of THEIR ability...

Well..I have not updated this for a while...and stuff has been going on, so here goes...

the Nutmeg Club hosted this event on July 19...then MassMiata did the same on august 16.

Between the two events we placed a bunch of folks in the top 20 for year end standings...then Lime Rock sweetened the pot...with a practice day for all the top entrants...freebie..which was yesterday. standing got shook up a little bit in the process...for the better as far as the Miata community is concerned...not so good for yours truly and one other Miata driver...I am still in..he is out.

5 Miatas still in the top 20...including 1st and 3rd overall!!

8 cars overall in the top 20 that participated in the Nutmeg and MassMiata events...

and the shootout coming up on November 15...No admission charge for spectators...
