The intake (from the cone to engine):

K&N filter
1.6 JRCAI cast aluminum pipe
MS PNP AIT sensor
ARC 1.6 cross over tube

Engine to exit:

Jackson Racing exhaust manifold
Trackdog manifold blanket
2.25" Hi-flo cat
Borla Cat-back

how effective is the ARC intake chamber? buy it for bling, function, etc? those seem to be a lot of money for that

I like it for the 1.6, thestock crossover is suspect to cracking and leaking. The volume of the chamber should add a little more torque. It smoothed out the mid range a little, judging from the sensitivity of my smooth, muscular, shiny posterior.

I use a Weapon R full intake, given to me by Pat/NA6R.
MSPNP IAT
Megan Racing 3" custom catback

Would have a header, but what is the point when ill have to swap it out for a turbo manifold anyways...lol

I'd like to get one of the ARC tubes to dyno.

been turbo'd twice, supercharged once on this same engine and car.

with the head work I have done, the MS and other mods for response, it really is a lot of fun on the track. definitely less problematic than f/i.

I have the ARC chamber for the 1.8, It's attached to the stock AFM and a K&N cone filter. Love how it sounds, and it seemed to give me a few hp if any (butt dyno?) I got it for really cheap so I can't complain. Eventually I wanna change my filter for an Apexi filter which I've read does a really good job.

On my 1.6 miata i have FM link so, no AFM
NA randall carbon intake,
OEM box with top 1.8 (better flow than the 1.6 square)
Green air filter
ARC intake chamber.

My 1.8 so far:

ITG Maxogen CF intake:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DEfFc1wOO9I/TnZNRTmSXfI/AAAAAAAAAME/LWVYRDkwlKQ/s1600/IMG_0366s.jpg
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XO_EYxr53A8/TnZNQsaec1I/AAAAAAAAAMA/iydlqzj2AW0/s1600/IMG_0359s.jpg

The original plan was to run a Randall cowl intake with a ARC Magic chamber, but there were some fitment issues and i was really reluctant to cut the firewall for an intake than runs a circle round the engine.
The ITG performs well so far, it is an improvement over the stock setup regarding intake temps and responsiveness. I tested a JR intake before and the ITG is better in many ways.

Tried a video once but you really only notice under full load...

http://youtu.be/2LNZmn20nh8

Might try a setup where the air is picked up in front of the radiator in the future.

You think this is better then doing a randel style intake?

From what I've seen yes, I do think it is better. I could be wrong though

I've seen a lot of different diy intakes, Randall, and homemade randall without a box. All considered this has been one of the best that I have come across, and the cheapest.

What exactly is the set up, it looks super easy

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get:

-2" pvc 180 degree piece
-2" pvc straight tube
-pvc glue
-2 Connectors
-Enough wiring to stretch your MAF harness across the engine bay.

Cut one "Flange" off of one side of the 180 so it fits in the connector, stretch it onto the throttle body. Cut the straight to your desired length and glue it into the connecting side of the 180, insert into the rubber connector and stretch onto MAF. Extend wiring to MAF and wrap... You're done.

If you can find a rubber 180 that would probably work better.

Not many people believe the arc does much. Before adding a charger ran a 1.6 NA with an arc, k&n panel Filter, and standard drilled air box ( on the cold side) and got some noticeable gains. No proof but the engine definatly had added mid range and a little better top end I'm convinced. I also ran a decat, RB exhaust, mazdaspeed 4-1 manifold and 14 degree advanced timing. Ran very sweet.

RB 180 and K&N on the stock AFM. Seems to do what it says on the tin, if nothing else the grunt was worth the price of admission. It will do nicely until I go to throttle bodies.

I think the previous owner cut it. Remove the rubber edge to check. If they had hood pins they would of had to cut it in that exact spot to get access to the hole in the frame.

genious! there's even visible notch on the rubber right where the hole is (probably from the pin)

ARC, K&N, heat shield.

Funnily enough..the engine note when i first installed it didnt seem to change all that much. Bit quieter when cruising, bit smoother. Under full load, engine seems to have a similar note to stock..just louder, and slightly deeper. No actual "induction" roar that we all like to hear...im guessing the ARC muffles it?!

I've heard the ARC gets quite loud with an afm delete. Spocknasty was running one with an open element filter while using megasquirt and no afm.

would love to do an AFM delete...just one of those things now that will stay as "love to do"...got to get all responsible now im getting married in 3 months!!lol!

finding with the ARC and the 57i, that at the top end of the rev range..it doesnt level off as quickly in the last 500-750rpm where it used to.

Think i might put a standard airbox in to do a comparison.

A 90degree PVC pipe with a few couplers and clamps with a cone filter. The throttle response is amazing and the sound is awesome. Here is a quick video, don't mind the video quality of it, it was mostly meant for the audio since it was snowing out while filming it lol
