I recently purchased an old front bow from tony(demon I am) for a good price for my g string coming in. As I impatiently wait, I decided to refurbish the latches as the black was messed up and the metal was kind of rusty and want to take it apart and repaint and re-grease the latches. Main questions I have are how to take the latches apart and is it possible to buy a new spring for the latches as both latches' have broken springs.

You should be able to source something through ace hardware, maybe Lowes

Also, be aware that the latches were assembled with thread lock. This can make the bolts difficult to remove. Good luck.

well i went to lowes today and got some springs. they were too long so i cut them down and now they work smooth. atleast 100x better than without the spring. only thing bothering me is one part has the rust but i think i can get over it. also sanded down the latches and i might keep the latch covers bare metal and clear coat them here is a pic to show what they look like right now

would look great if you do the whole thing like that.

Yeah I am debating in doing to plate. I might just repaint the paint and keep the latch but first I will have to finish sanding. I will take a picture of it installed on my main front bow of it completely sanded

Can't remember, do you have any other shiny bits (or plan to get them). If you don't, it might look out of place.

I have a chrome shift know and chrome trim around my boost gauges and I believe that I will get my new steering wheel in brushed or Chrome spokes
