Has anyone switched from their halogen bulbs over to an led bulb for their headlights? I have been thinking about doing it to my NB.

Do they make an LED light with a focus beam pattern? I know they are bright but man you will probably blind everyone with those if you cannot control the light output.

I thought about that as well. The one I was looking at actually have a projector lens on the front. Here is a link for reference. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-SAMSUNG-15W-9006-High-Power-LED-Projector-Fog-Daytime-Running-Head-Light-Bulb-/121365254420?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2002%7CMake%3AMazda%7CModel%3AMiata&hash=item1c41eed114&vxp=mtr

Those simply aren't bright enough to be headlights.

The technology isn't quite there yet for consumer-level replacement LED bulbs for headlights, though we may start seeing some worthwhile solutions over the next few years. Trucklite and a couple other companies are really pushing it forward, but even they are forced to use massive heatsinks to keep the LEDs in their lights happy. If that LED bulb were actually bright enough, it would most likely burn itself out without some sort of heat management. The closest thing I've seen yet that looks even remotely promising are bulbs like these from VLEDS: http://www.vleds.com/headlights/led.html

Update: Here's an early review of the VLEDS headlights: http://www.clubxb.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1009208&postcount=39

Also, expect to pay some serious change for a decent quality LED headlight, at least for the next few years until it becomes commonplace.

I was looking at those as well. I read a couple of reviews. I was thinking about trying something other than a hid conversion. A friend of mine has some Trucklights on his jeep and they work really well. But the price could kill you lol.

Have these on my NA DD. Brighter than the E-Codes, but not as tight of a pattern. Great for signs and other things with that white reflective paint. They claim a 22 year life, but I worry about the little fans in an under hood environment.
