Here's my shift knob since today. It's about 200mm tall with a short throw shifter kit, so the to final "throw" is about same as standard but the shifter is much closer to my steering wheel.

bought one of the cheap-o ebay short shifters and dont get me wrong it did reduce the throw in my shift, but the length between the middle ball with the notch keeping it from rotating (which it doesnt keep it from doing so) and the bottom ball that goes into the tranny is too long. Which creates the shifter to rattle under the plate that holds it in. any suggestions? or has anyone run into this before?

As much as I love that picture, and I want one so badly, there a Miata that showed up at a Mazda meet not to long ago with this.

I knew a guy here in S. FL that was making shift nobs using billiard balls. He would drill and tap them to match the shifter rod, then just thread them on.

Made my shift knob from a snap on screw driver, drilled out the handle a bit more, countersunk it so it was flush with the shift boot , then tapped it to the correct thread pitch
