93LE #916
And then there were 3.
So this past Sunday I found quite the gem hidden on Craigslist of all places. It is a 1993 LE, it is a 2 owner car with 138k miles! The second owners (Husband and Wife) are an older couple and purchased the car 23 years ago with 2,000 miles and have been the owners since then. I found the car in Ft. Myers Florida but it spent most of its life in Wyoming only ever being let out during the non winter months so there's virtually no rust just very minor surface rust on the control arms. In the early years of there ownership the car drove from Wyoming to Florida 7 times! They said the top was down on every road trip. Maintenance was done when recommended by the book and always done at the dealer. Plus I got it for a great price for todays standards and I am happy I found an LE because I know they are getting hard to find in such nice condition.
I look forward to keeping this one around, I have had it for 4 days and have been itching to go on a big drive!
Enjoy some pics of it in its unwashed and unedited form. It is exactly how I got it.

They kept it very original but did a couple interesting mods like wiring up a super bright LED strip when a door opens. it is incredibly useful but doesn't fit the elegant theme of the LE but I will probably keep it.
Next is a set of covers in a interesting color combo which preserved the seats which apparently are in ok condition not the best but they look presentable.
I have bought a bunch of maintenance items I would like to get out of the way before any mods, then a very well needed engine bay detail and then I will install some mods I have lying around the house. Until then enjoy.

First Update!
So once I saw the engine bay I knew I was in for a challenge. It was EXTREMLY dusty and had a lot of caked on dirt so I knew it would be a very rewarding cleanup.
I blew it all off with air and then I hosed off the loose dirt. After that I used GUNK Foam and that worked extremely well, dirt and oil fell off immediately and if it was a easy to reach spot I used a detail brush if it was hard to reach I hit it with brake cleaner and I made sure to rinse the engine bay after. The AC and PS were really coated but after a solid cleanup they look brand new! I need to take some better pics of the bay but this one will have to do for now.
I even evicted a dormant mouse nest behind my ABS. Thankfully no damage or rust was found.
While I was in the engine bay I did some maintenance. I did an oil change which was much needed, changed Spark Plugs (NGK Iridium) and changed over to NGK wires and decided to add my ARC chamber and a HKS panel filter. I definitely feel an improvement on the low end so I am happy it did something.
My under tray was also crusty, beat up, and just not lining up well so I bought a brand new one and now it looks fantastic!

A special car indeed, enjoy the journey. I have a NOS matching tonneau if you're in need. Bring it up to MATG in August.
-
I actually have the original tonneau in excellent condition but thank you!
I really would like to make it because I haven't been before!

So my interior needs some love. A lot of little bits are looking old. I changed out the AC panel with a brand new OEM one and it looks so so nice!

When I was in there I added my Gold Neilex Hazard/Popup switch, and M2 shift knob and ebrake handle that I pulled out of storage after years of no use.
Attachment 23638
Now it is time to get a new shift boot and do a shifter rebuild.

Let there be light!
I have added one of my personal favorite headlamps. A set of Raybrigs! I have been a big fan of them since I bought my Eunos. The lighting at night is very very crisp plus they look the part and have a very subtle blue tint.

I was also able to get a nice pic of the interior so you can see the Nielex switches and the shift knob and ebrake!

Did some important interior updates!
My shift boot was torn and shifter needed a rebuild so I picked up a new OEM boot and a 5X Racing rebuild kit and now it is looking and feeling perfect!

Next my gauge hood was very scratched and very sticky as if the paint was melting off so I picked up a nice new OEM hood!

Next I pulled my old Eunos mat out from retirement to help protect the old carpet from the sun.

Now onto the engine bay. My coolant bottle was looking crusty so I picked up a new one! (Excuse the Instagram texts, I stole the pics from my story haha)

So on Saturday I did a wheel off car wash on the LE!
Cleaned all the suspension bits and under body and fender wells. Thankfully found 0 rust and minimal wear on the arms, struts, and drivetrain. Axles and drive shaft looked to be good and wheel bearings had 0 play.
I did find that my sway bar endlinks and sway bar bushings are hard as rocks and cracking on all 4 corners (As suspected for being almost 30 years old) so those components and maybe somethings extra are on the way!
After the deepest clean I have done on the LE since I purchased it a good drive was in order. Tires and Brakes are on the list but not a big priority because they are still ok. Maintenance is #1 on the list Timing Belt, Water Pump, and Front main need to be done.
A clutch was done but unfortunately the throw-out bearing and rear main was not. So I will have all of this done at the same time with some extras of course.
Here are some pics from the drive!

That looks just pristine! Maybe some work on the steering wheel leather but otherwise, perfect.
-
Thank you so much! I would love to get a new aftermarket wheel but I am having such a hard time deciding.

The OEM Nardi or Momo with the horn pad would be a perfect match (albeit not new) ;)
