What is funny is that I have at one time contemplated owning a car from every one of those groups. I am only 19 by the way. Most recently I am still contemplating the mg idea as it would get me to a british roadster faster.
I'd say volvo guys are up there. Kinda like saab community.
The Volvo guys are an interesting bunch. I believe they are more DIY than any other I have ever met. Case in point, there is a homebrew tool passed around for SOHC guys to bore reliefs in their existing pistons so they can switch to a DOHC head. Those Volvo guys are like a MacGuiver club for auto enthusiats.
I am a volvo guy. Surprisingly I took my moose to Sarasota a few weeks ago with my dad for a business conference. While I was there surprisingly I got a check engine light on my car out of the blue that I have been fighting. I posted it to the forum to see if anyone was local to help me out. Within 2 hours I had a very well known member message me back with directions to his house. I met him there and we pulled out vida/dice (A unit initially made by volvo for vehicle diagnostics on volvo cars. It is essentially the hardware and software that the dealer uses to tell you what is wrong with your car). We saw that nothing was clearly wrong and were still befuddled. We cleared the codes and off I went. This was bout 1,500 miles ago and I have not had any issues yet.
I am hard pressed to find another forum except maybe certain miata forums that would have this much generosity to a fellow forum members.
I know if someone local to me had an issue that I could help with on either a miata or volvo I would be one of the first people to offer help.
The british car guys are a different breed. At least down here they are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Quite often people inherit something and need help figuring out what it is or what it is valued at and the British Car Club of Miami is always helpful. If you can not get your car to run (quite often) they will always lend a hand. Also on average they are well into their 50s, 60s, and 70s. Ambitious bastards too. I know a guy with a spitfire that he transplanted with a gt6 drivetrain. Talk about work and fun.
I'd like to think I'm solely responsible for why we aren't number 1.

In my experience Miata and Volvo enthusiasts have both been very friendly (though both have their own sects of elitists), and older Nissan/Datsun groups have been as well. Local BMW and Porsche groups seem pretty friendly too, though I haven't actually interacted with them much personally. I generally won't speak ill of any community (as I generally don't spend much time there if the vibe is rude/ignorant), but I don't get the most positive impression Subaru (I've met lots of friendly enthusiasts in person, but the forums are somewhat less appealing) or Honda (perhaps because of the massive sample size lending itself to a lot of highly vocal idiots) enthusiasts. I think meeting a make/model enthusiast in person probably creates a much different impression than just online interactions though.
All communities are pretty whack. There's only a small handful I choose to keep in touch with. For the most part I only stick around to talk shit in an extremely helpful manner. Or just break peoples balls as I tag team them with either Tom or Veg.

Miatas have a bit of everything but mostly poor stance people like the honda guys.
Each has its own flavor. Each filled with equal parts stupid.
Hell there are some seriously talented mouth breathers in the Porsche community too.
Its all lame. Ive just built a relationship with some of the bums here... :P
