Good job!
I love looking at these German engineered marvels from afar.
I am so glad I am over my superior engineered German car phase.
Every time something like this would happen to one of my Audi's I would work through the problem, solve it, and feel satisfied that the car was fully sorted. But noooo, the Audi Gods were busy planning the next problem in a short order to keep me challenged. This cycle repeated over and over. Each time I thought this was the last big hurdle.
I finally realized that these continuous problems were OK for a hobby car but not acceptable for a daily driver.
Selling my Audi daily drivers was the best automotive decision I ever made.
When I retire I may get another when I would have more time to deal with the problems, then again maybe not!

Thanks Renee! Ya every time I drive it I'm like, 'geez i love this car' and then most of the time when I have to work on it i'm like, 'OMG, i hate this car!'

01-01-20: The driver side headlight has been having issues for some time, I replaced the bulb which was bad but that headlight would shut off after about 10 minutes or so of continuous use. Everything I read pointed to the ballast which is what I figured.
Decided to take a chance on a used ballast since my wife wants to sell it. Bought one off eBay for like $40 shipped.

A new one went for around $90 so not alot more but I let my wife make the call this time. Removed the old one and noticed this...

....which I presume was from it overheating. Either way the used ballast seems to have fixed the issue as the old one had gotten to the point it wouldn't even turn on the first time, which it had been previously. Sure would have been upset if the used ballast didn't work but it did, so thank goodness!

01-02-20, Mileage-138,322: There has been a intermittent misfire issue ever since I did the oil separator valve, etc. a few weeks ago. In the last week or so it was doing it constantly and you could feel it running a little rough. The codes were always a P1354, P1355 or both which both are for cylinder 7.
I decided to just go ahead and order a new COP as they all look like the are the OEM/original units. I ordered a Bosch off of Rock Auto for around $45 shipped a few days ago(Monday I think) and received it today.

The main difference I noticed was that instead of a metal sleeve for the bolts to pass thru, they are plastic with metal tabs on top and bottom. At first I didn't realize they had metal tabs which was a issue as cylinder 7 has a ground strap and ground going to the injector harness but upon closer inspection saw the metal tabs. Not having any metal would only be a issue for cylinders 3 and 7 as they both have those two grounds.
Within about 15 minutes I had the COP swapped and verified the spark plug was properly torqued.

Started it up and the misfire was gone. I revved it up a few times and checked for fault codes and found none. Geez I love easy fixes!

Nice work! Those BMW PVC systems are problematic, for sure. There are a few work around/reroute versions, but it’s usually something you sort of “learn to live with”. Even my e30 had a convoluted breather/PVC system.
