Looks Gulf Racing inspired.
Paint your Miata like this one!

It actually was a Gulf logo by the wiper motor now.

polished with a clear coat of red? might have to give that a try.
Jaw drops......
Much easier than that. Valve cover was wire brushed (on the end of a cordless drill), then washed - that's it. Duplicolor Metalcast red and then after full cure, clear engine enamel. Wet sand and polish the clear.
I did grind off the "16 DOHC..." lettering off one side of the valve cover. Gives it a longer appearance, much different with the cut valve cover.

Giggity goo. Y'all have such pretty engine bays. I'd post Betty's, but it's all stock. And on a black car, not really much to see. Well, I did sandblast the valve cover 3 years ago. It has stayed relatively clean since.
Damn, Bacon, that's tasty
Mine is not as nice as most, but I'm working on it... slowly.

My throttle body's body really needs to be cleaned - badly. So much corrosion! Stupid previous owner parked her in a mud puddle and I have to replace or restore everything under the hood. I scrounge bolts at pic-n-pull to fix up my precious. Yup, I'm a hardware whore. Don't people know that it is bad to let their car rot?! :rulez:
I don't have much to contribute...I know my plug wires are missing, this was right after painting the valve cover.

Just finished installing it yesterday, need to wait for t bolt clamp and few stronger hose so it won't leak. And yes the racing beat intake does make it look funny and the way its bending, not a lot of cold air. I will be changing it later after fixing the leak.

Not even half as close being to as clean as others but this is mine so far

notice that bracket over the manifold.... a sign of things to come.
atank, you should do a red interior swap on your car, it would look sweet
I have started collecting parts, just swapped NA8 dash out for a NA6............need that Nielex tombstone!!
A shot after I installed a JR header and a Corn make Corn*s heat shield... I am happy with the results.

After seeing such cleanliness and blingness it makes me feel bad. :(

^^Nice!!!!!!!!
Attachment 13163 mine is very basic, but its improving with time:p
I really like this thread! I clearly need to step up my game though!
The shiny bits and clever use of shadows hide how rusty and dirty this engine bay really is. lol

Just started to work on it. Still have a very long way to go
Very Clean!!!!
WTF??? bling bling!
Nice first post.
193k...engine is still running strong. However, I'm looking to have the engine rebuilt and bored out to 1.9L in the future. I have a long way to go on this car.

small update removed charcoal canister and added a flying miata strut bar.
How are you liking that ARC? Is it wrapped in heat reflective material?

Hey all, haven't really posted on this site much, planning to visit more. I mostly post on CR, I'm thinking i want to transfer my build thread over as well.

I've read your build over there, and it's amazing! I don't think any one of us here would complain if you transfer it here. Please do! :)

By the way Welcome to MazdaRoadster.net !!!!
Welcome to MR! Nice engine bay.
Those last two guys are crushing me. My engine is so stock, and those look so amazing :cry2:

Somebody comments on the color of the radiator in the black car in 3, 2, 1
:)
Geezz. Rabid bunch. It's good for another 50k. Some spray paint will fix the color.

I have been busy at work while base-lining my 1979 Ford Thunderbird. The T-Bird is now pretty much done and I am driving it 520 miles a week. I sold the POS Audi! That should free up a lot of garage time.
Up next is to finish my wife's Mustang II over the next month as I promised to finish her car before I dig into the Miata.
Then I can work on the Miata guilt free.
Wow Miataquest, that does fit in there nicely. What are you going to do with all that extra space?
Note that it also has air conditioning, power steering, and an oil cooler.
I like the extra space and simplicity, that was one of my goals. I hated all the previous turbo and inter-cooler plumbing of the Miata 1.6 engine that added complexity and made servicing difficult. Now I have more power and torque without all the crap. If my wife did not demand air conditioning I may have eliminated that. I am still considering a manual steering rack.
I will be adding some heat shields and insulated line sleeves before I start driving it. (to insulate brake lines, air conditioning lines, fuel lines, and clutch slave) That may occupy more of the engine bay and downstream exhaust regions but shouldn't be that intrusive.
Always a work in progress. Not the prettiest but it's functional and gets the job done.

Some NC love.

Wow it has been about 10 months since I took a picture of Misfire's entire engine bay:cry: but here was the last one.....
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4358/...234f489c_k.jpg
...I really need to detail it. I also want to pick up a spare valve cover and do something with it and refinish the Jackson Racing supercharger outlet. Really need to do dual throttle bodies.:fp:
Bone Stock life yO!! :toomuch:
well, I have a shiny OEM Chrome valve cover though. Dont be hating.

Stock = reliable. That's tops in my book :)
I thought I had posted in this thread, but apparently not.

That flat top intake and dummy TB would sure look good powdercoated black like your supercharger.
I have toyed with that thought, but think it would make the whole engine bay too dark.
Your guys' are soooooo shiny XD. This is probably the cleanest it'll be for the next year or so.

Since we are un the bay, anyone have real experience with the Skunk2 intake mani from TDR? Interested to know if it's a better choice than the flat top, as they both sell for appx the same cash.
I could have swore I saw a thread where someone dyno'd them both back to back and the Skunk2 made more power. I would be very surprised if the Skunk2 didn't make more power than any other ots option for the Miata. Skunk2 has been making quality intake manifolds for awhile. Will try to locate said thread.
There's been a lot of complaints I've seen on the Skunk2 particularly with some bolts cracking their mounting holes, But I can't say that I have really read into it. The only other thing is if you had an NA not an NB then you also have to factor in the cost of an NB startermotor due to size restricitons, and the NA Starter Feed wire rubbing and making fires...
Detailed info of casting/manufacturing and installation/fitment issues of the Skunk2 intake. As well as N/A testing compared to a JDM flat top intake on a high HP N/A engine.

Still waiting on my coolant reroute kit but it's getting closer to working. I made the intake (3D printed with dissoluble filament and then wrapped in carbon fiber) almost 2 years ago but just now getting around to installing it.

This is a really cool solution to get cold air, nicely done!
