Sweet. I assume these ship in primer finish? Also, which rear window is installed? Plain glass or electric defrost glass?
quite sure that it still needs to be painted, but im happy they brought these back! I’m planning to get one. Just need to sell some car parts first.

Hmm, curious what this might do for the old used HTs.
Problem is, the price is for Mazda Team Support Racers. Makes no mention if they will even sell to the general Miata population. And if the $1535 is discounted for their racers, what is the going rate for the average Joe? I would guess somewhere between $2000 and $2300.
So a used top should come out on top, or rather, bottom of the price range for the average Joe. I'd bet the prices of *nice* tops go down a little if less racers are buying them used.
For what it's worth, carbonmiata does an OEM replica top. Full FRP weighs 24 pounds and comes in at $800 with an acrylic window. $500 shipped to port, $900 shipped to your door (info from their site).
So, about $1,700 shipped to you, brand new.

Last week I heard you can buy a NEW 5-speed transmission for $1287.
I wish I could have bought one before to install with my NEW Ecotec engine.
Race-prepped, rebuilt 5 sp Miata transmissions go for around 1200 too.

I got one of these hardtops, they are factory fresh and fully optioned, ie- headliner and defrost. they come with EVERYTHING, including side latches, precut trim panels, Frankenstein bolts and instructions.
Will def need to be painted and some sanding marks on the front but im glad i got this vs an old, probably stolen one on craigslist

So I had purchased some "used" hardtops in the past for my miata however the OCD inside me has never really been happy with the defects some of these 20+ year old hardtops have.
That and when you can actually find one for sale they seem to sell within minutes of being listed ......

For those wondering the cost, this was $1789.15 from my local dealership, plus FL sales tax.
Comes with everything!! Headliner, defroster, latches, striker plates, etc. it’s in black gelcoat FRP ready to paint.

I really hate to be Debbie-downer, but aren't the side-striker panels in Kirin red? I suppose you could have them painted, or sell them off to recoup some (with the blue HT, even).

My hardtop is in very good condition but I was planning on changing the hardtop and the "A"-pillar color to gloss black for my overall design. I could not decide if I would have it painted or wrapped. Now I have this option.
Decisions, Decisions...and I had probably better make up my mind by Monday evening (late night at the local dealer) before they are gone.
Yes becasue once word gets out that there a few left the OCD guys (like me) will snatch them up, if I had the extra money I would buy a spare to keep mint in the box just because :p
all side striker plates are satin black no matter the interior, unless you are talking about the seat belt tower trim which wont matter since the red ones in my 93LE are pre cut already for the striker plates, so this black trim panels are in the spare parts bin (vote4pedro already claimed them) as for the Montego Blue hardtop it is sold to help fund this new one and the buyer is coming today to pick it up.Quote:

Saturday night I fired up the garage heater so the next day I could start the engine and comfortably inspect my hardtop. Sunday I started up the EcotecMiata engine and took it to the quarter car wash in 29 degree weather. (No snow or salt my way) I sprayed off all the surface dirt from the car while kind-of testing the hardtop seals.
The hardtop is in very good condition with just a few chips and no leaks detected.
However, I did notice my crystal white Miata body is full of chips, dents, and scratches making it a only a 20 footer. If I did get a new hardtop it would place high pressure on me to have the car stripped and repainted due to the potential crystal white paint defect. That would detract from getting the drive-train sorted out.
So I convinced myself to work on the drive-train first so I can either be satisfied with the results or initiate another drive-train project. If I go with the latter I will need the funds.
Nice addition! Looking forward to seeing it painted on the car. Congrats! Pretty cool that you can still pick up a brand new hardtop. Thanks Mazda!

It's a great feeling to have a 20+ year old part produced again, it was like a huge Christmas present to myself when I got mine, im sure you are super excited about this as well, I know I sure was, I had the dealership paint mine right there at their bodyshop because I couldn't wait any longer hahahaha

Yes I am very excited! All the used ones that I looked at were over priced for over 20+ years, not is the best of shape, or gone before I even got to see it.
No I live in Middleton tn. Nearest Mazda dealer is in Memphis, about 90 miles away and they did not seem to interested in ordering it for me at the internet pricing. So I went on line and used the part number and found Cox would order it for me.
Mine was shipped UPS freight to my house. Will post pictures after it's painted. Thanks again!
