Another Miata build that takes forever for good updates....

Forgot I didn't have one already

Bought my first miata (and manual) in late December of 2011, a '90 1.6 in a custom grey. Already modified a bit, which was good since i'm terrible at working on cars. Clear title, new oil, hard top, at 158k miles. AC and everything removed.

Finally got a cheap NRG bucket seat, and painted the back gold. Good seat, comfy, but extremely flexable.

By April the car was semi-ready for the Miatas at Laguna Seca event. My favorite track, which im lucky enough to visit each year for the ALMS race, I wanted it to be my first event. So I did. Sadly, the day I went, its poured. A very slippery track + a driver who tried to drive like he did in the 1st dry session didn't go well. A couple offs, including a one that came close to hitting the wall exiting T4, the car was fine when it came time to go home. However, the journey home went to hell quickly, with me destroying the hard top 30 miles from Monterey, and having to limp home under 60mph.

Since April, the car hasn't be modified. Funds have been spent on trips and stuff. Been looking at repairing the hardtop, which will need a bit of fiberglass work. Odds are it will just be lexan or something similar. Also on the way back from Laguna Seca in May (went back for ALMS race and camped with the Miata), car got air on a twisty road and landed wrong, major flat spots on the tire. Will probably upgrade to 8in wheels when they get replaced. Chasing an oil leak, but all money is being saved for the end of the summer when I move up to Washington.

just get a new window and put 949Racing stickers all over it. looks like that should keep it together for next time lol

^I was considering it, found a place where you can possibly get them for under $300 shipped. I do like no window at the moment, no trapped air, so the car stays a bit cooler for daily driving without ac :D

Aero mods when possible, want to pick up a GV lip before I leave (can pick them up under $90 down here new). Mostly track days until I have enough saved to convert back towards Spec Miata. Best upgrade for now are tires.

Why not just do a lexan rear window? Cheaper and lighter. Also I lol that the 949 sticker survived. On a other note what spring rates are on your flexes?

No idea on the spring rates, but judging by how it drives Id say on the softer side. Id like to do lexan, but no idea how, and im rather terrible at DIY haha. Heard it scratches very easily, but its very light

I went without vents, I didn't like the pop up style so I'll have to make my own...
