    The One ...

I've dropped a few hints here and there but thought I ought to start a thread for the actual car ... a few people on here know about it, well one person mainly.

The car in question is currently sat in Holland where it's stopped off en route from Japan. Not entirely sure when I'll get my hands on it but hopefully within a couple of weeks.

I won't say too much about it yet, other than that I haven't been this excited about a car for a long time. It ticks a lot of boxes for me, as well as taking me in a slightly different direction.

Hmmmm ... ok I could have picked a better title ...

Just had a message that the car is in the UK. Got to clear customs and get delivered to a friends house and then I can go collect it! It does need a bit of work to get it on the road, but the biggest delay will be waiting for the registration paperwork to come through

Sorry for the mess, I will delete the noise once we see some photos of said new arrival.

That's what I was thinking, haha. Poor Russel. As soon as we see some MX5 picts, we'll clean it up and back on track.

Nah don't worry about editing anything, it's part of the soundtrack now!! I'm hoping it's more towards Jet Li than D & G ...

Either way I'm hoping I'll do it justice ... I need to make any changes slowly (and reversible!) but it doesn't need much apart from a bit of bodywork and a few tweaks here and there.

So near and yet so far ... The car has cleared customs but it's probably still a week away from getting to me ... Even worse, it isn't technically coming to me as it's going straight to a friend of mine to get put on the road.

There isn't loads to do but it does need a bit of a repair and then some paint ... and a couple of small modifications while it's there as well. I took the decision to get all the work done by a friend of mine, Simon at TCV MX5s. As well as having known Simon for years (he's the one that talked me into getting my first MX5 while I was recovering from a bike accident), I know he'll do the car justice and be up to my OCD ridden standards.

Plus to anyone that knows me, it ensures the car will get finished this year. I somehow know that I'd find some reason to change the engine and so would start a 3 year saga of endless mind changing!!

Next update when a few deliveries of parts arrive!

    Russell.

Well it has continued it's journey and last night a good friend of mine picked it up off another good friend of mine (who is quite well known on here) .... I'll add a few pics tonight although I'd guess a few of you have already worked it out!

Now I've seen it. This should be awesome.

I'd do some retro 14s, with a good offset but not hellaflush, stock fenders all around, low but not to low. Less chrome. A dark colour.

Wheels ... well these came up cheap so they will do for the moment ... will probably get them sprayed ... not sure about gold on a silver car?

The perfect wheels would have been the Wats I sold to a guy in Greece ... 14 x 7 ET12. Knew I shouldn't have sold them but I needed the cash at the time!

They're decent, but not cool or retro enough. But for place holders they're fine.

OK, today has been a long day ... are we sitting comfortably?

I dropped the kids off to school, then jumped in the car and headed round to Simons ... excited? Me? !!!

Got to his unit and found the car sat on the ramps ...

Looks cool, huh? ... and yes, It's a Pitcrew. One of the things that makes this car stand out is the fact that it has the Pitcrew rear conversion as well.

One of 3 in the country we think. We being James aka Madabout MX5s, who knows these things!!

It also has a load of other Pitcrew goodies, making it even nicer!!

Pitcrew twin exit exhaust, gives it a nice burble almost heading towards a straight 6 in sound

The sound is helped by the Pitcrew Racing manifold (a work of art!!!)

    and the Pitcrew Racing intake.

just for good measure, it also has a Pitcrew Racing strut brace. So the engine bay is nice and the outside looks amazing, how about inside.

yes, well ... pink fading into white at the bottom ... well it's probably rare ...

Can't remember if you've seen these before ... but they are nice!

Think the heater panel is home made, but it looks nice so it'll stay. Door cards are similar and will stay as well.

Gear gaiter says Zoom but I'm not sure if it actually is.

The centre console is Nakamae though. Have to admit it's not as nice as I thought so not sure it'll stay.

I won't post loads of close ups of the front, but suffice to say it needs some work. I need to talk to a few people, Simon is happy he could do it, but is concerned the rest of the car is so good, maybe I want someone who knows / has worked on Pitcrews before to do it? Both of the wings are creased and the nose has been pushed down, bending some of the mounts so it needs to come off, the wings need to be replaced and then it can be bonded onto the new wings, blended in and the front end resprayed... not a small job!

I have some time to think anyway, as it's more work than I was hoping for I need to save up for a bit and work out the best way to get it all done. So we decided for the moment it's best at home with me ...

where it joined the family ...

Not sure how many too many officially is, but Jenny seemed happy enough when she saw it :thumb:

So watch this space, changes will be coming but they won't be fast!!

    Russell.
