Once I get the glass, it'll take the shop 3-4 weeks to cut it. So, don't hold your breath.

Super-tiny update: I have glass. I'll take it to the waterjet in a few days when I pick up my last cut job.

Doming them would make them even MORE reflective. And that would require custom glass molding. That would be exponentially more expensive than just having glass cut.

And no, not too late at all. This thread is just to give me an idea of how many of each to make. I've not taken any money. Heck, I don't even know how much the final cost will be.

Timely bump! I have actual info.

I picked up some test cuts today. I'll test fit them in rings and clusters tonight. They're pretty decent. I need to clean off water marks from the jet too.

I have a possible price too: $55 + shipping. They're coming out of the machine for far less than I expected, which is very awesome.

I've spent the past hour trying to clean water spots off of a few of the lenses. No luck no matter how harsh a chemical I use.

    I'm honestly crushed by this.

I was really looking forward to this. Is it a total loss?

1 sheet of the glass might be a total loss. The other sheets are still uncut. I can try taking them to an actual glass cutting shop. I mentioned the project at the water jet shop and they said it would be no problem... which is why I started there.

I'll work on the glass some more later this week. MAYBE the water spots can be removed without destroying the anti-glare coating.

How about a protective film on the glass during the water jet process?

^ I had that idea last night before reading your post just now. I went to the water jet shop and covered the glass in vinyl transfer film. It's decently sticky, doesn't harm the anti-glare coating, and I have some wide rolls. I covered both sides. I'll get another sheet cut and see what happens.
