    Cig Lighter Not Working

Brought home a '99 this weekend and we are getting to know each other.

The cigarette lighter (ie phone charger) isn't working. We did switch out the fuse.

Replace the unit? Wiring issues? Just want a charger - don't need a lighter.

I've never had luck with lighters in Miatas. I got a... Hmm. I'll just link.

One of those extensions, snipped off the end, and ran the wires behind the dash. I spliced into the factory wiring. Then I ran the plug into the glove box, but have also had it in the armrest. It's much more reliable than the stock lighter housing.

Do you have a 12v test light? I'd test the lighter socket and if no power (with key on) I'd start tracing the wiring to the fuse box. If there's power to the wiring then It's a little fusible link on the socket itself that's blown.

I have a like-new cigarette lighter for sale on the classifieds. It's a green one too for 99's.

Most likely it's the blown fuse link on the back of the cigarette lighter. It's pretty common.

My cigarette lighter works when I jiggle it just right and if I pull my phone charger out the whole cig lighter pulls out sometimes!
